Great CD, Even Better LIVE! This Band Works HARD,
This review is from: Revelry (Audio CD)
I went to the Flogging Molly concert last night and BULLETS & OCTANE opened for them. I had never heard of them, but instantly fell in LOVE. The band WORKED their tails off on stage to not only play well, & sound great, but get the crowd up and going! Met them afterwords, and they were totally cool!Track 4, "Pirates" is absolutely INFECTIOUS! One of those songs that if you don't like the band you hate for it to be stuck in your head, but Since you love them you find you and 6 friends singing it a couple times on the way home from the show!

"Pretty ones, make violence...",

This album is, in your face, kick butt, back to the basics, rock 'n' roll. Bullets and Octane have made it very clear, that time, patience, and working with the right people, anything can happen. After several different line-ups of drummers and guitar players, they now have a steady band, with five members, and you will hear each characteristic of each member, while listening to this album.Gene's vocals help construct each song with the perfect melody and strength. Jack and Skye's guitars sound alot more powerful on this album; they have a crunchier, punkier type feel to them. Brent's bass lines and Ty's drumbeats help, both produce the structure for each song, with a driven punch, as well as sustaining a hard-hitting, rock `n' roll attitude. - Harmony Gerber, sound-riot dot com

Bullets And Octane-Revelry ***1/2While far from their strongest album, Revelry is a nice debut from a band that is one of the last true rock n' roll bands left on the earth. With their nice mix of hard rock and classic punk style and groove Bullets And Octane released Revelry, the sound of a band perfecting a dying genre. 'Save Me Sorrow' is nice but was done better on their next album In the Mouth of the Young but none the less a great way to open a debut album. 'Sweet Dreams' is haunting and powerful and no doubt one of the groups best. 'Fallen' presents the great guitar of Daniels which is often over looked. 'Pirates' is no doubt a live favorite with it's "da-da-da-da" chorus and infectious lyrics. 'Bring The House Down' was a sign of things to come from Bullets but also marks the end of the album. The rest of the album while decent is very forgettable and weak. As a whole Revelry is worth owning if this brand of straight up rock n' roll is your thing, but if not check out their next two albums because they are far better.

this is a great underground band, which i learned about from the cities of evil tour. the music kinda has a 80s rock feel to it. the lead singer is great, kind of The Cult sounding. Almost all the songs on here are good, so buy this cd!

I went to a show the other night at the UCI Bren Center where Avenged Sevenfold, Saosin, Death By Stereo and Bullets & Octane played and to tell you the truth I was only there for Saosin and Avenged. Bullets & Octane opened the show and no joke I fell in love. The lead singer worked the stage, the music and the audience. I swer they couldn't have gone wrong by opening up the show with them...they really got the audience pumped. I hadn't heard any of their music til that night and now I'm in love. Buy it..you'll love it!

Strong Debut!,

A strong debut from Bullets and Octane! The first three tracks ("Save Me Sorrow," "Sweet Dreams," and "Fallen") are all very strong material, and make for an opening to The Revelry that really grabs the listener, before the upbeat "Pirates" lets them know that the album is done in the spirit of rock n' roll foolishness. After all, there's nothing worse than a band that takes itself too seriously and doesn't know how to have a good time, but you won't find that here. The band's sound is an aggressive punk n' roll (you know...punk attitude but with an effort to actually play well), almost a hybrid of Social Distortion and Guns N' Roses, though missing that oldies-esque melodies that infuse their follow-up, 2006's In the Mouth of the Young, with such a great character. But this is a strong album, very listenable and fairly accessible.

I was not sure what to expect with these guys. But I was pleasantly surprised. A good rocking CD of short tracks that pump. No messing around here. Bullets seem like a band that have done the hard yards in pubs and clubs. I'll be buying more of their stuff.

I went to the family values tour recently and these guys played. I met the singer, Gene, before the show and he is totally cool. I also met Ty, the drummer and he is the coolest dude ever! These guys are totally down to earth yet their energy onstage is incredible! BUY THIS! I'm going to.

I heard Bullets and Octane for the first time when they opened for... hmm, now I can't even remember who they opened for because they totally rocked! I bought one CD at the concert with only a few songs but I played it into the ground. These guys have such high rockin energy, it always puts me in a great mood.

Explosive energy and excellent riffs...,

This album is like what I imagine snorting really good coke would be like. From the opening track, it's a raw sensation that digs its way into your brain and refuses to get out. The band is AMAZING live, with so much energy that it feels like drinking a pot of coffee. Their sound is reminiscent of older stuff from Aerosmith, Billy Idol, and The Clash, with definite elements of old-school punk rock that will have you headbanging, dancing around like an idiot, and cranking it up to maximum volume. My favorite track is "Bad Things to Bad People" simply because it is impossible to ignore; it slaps you in the face with the very definition of indulgent rock 'n roll.If you like bands like Fireball Ministry, The Knives, and CKY, you will LOVE Bullets and Octane. |
