Editorial Reviews

Review

This, the first in a series, is seriously good. Sherwood seems to have grown into his own with Revenants; you can hear the passion and conviction on every page. The difficult blend of sustaining intensity without losing depth of character or loss of descriptive prose is well achieved here. The world of the undead could be said to have been done to death, but Sherwood offers us something fresh and exciting, with an alternative beginning, a mystery behind their creation and the more subtle notion of an afflicted sub-race filled with past lives pain, memories and emotions. Sherwood has clearly poured his heart and soul into Revenants and it shows this is an immaculately presented, well constructed story, but most importantly it is a hugely entertaining read. --TheTruthAboutBooks.com

I am not usually someone who reviews, but since it was a really good read and not what I was expecting going in I wanted to say something. Given that I am not sure what I can say in the review portion, I will keep it short and to the point. When I first started the book I thought it was just going to be another gory vampire story, but I was pleasantly surprised when it went far beyond a vampires next fix for blood. The author was able to blend technology (the unexpected but really enjoyable part), current environments (trucks, houses, etc), and a relevant back story (to tie everything together), all while keeping the reader interested in what happens next. I cannot wait to see how the author blends more crazy stuff into the next book. It seems like we are ramping up for something big in the second book, and I cannot wait to see what it is. I really enjoyed this book so onto the second one!

Honestly, anyone with a brain, curiosity, and imagination will be entertained by Revenants:Fallen Savior.
Sci-fi, fantasy and horror fans will be very happy. I must admit to being dubious about the whole vampire connection. Sherwood's promos almost made me not want to read it, mostly because they present a rock-n-roll approach to yet another vampire story.

This book could definitely gain something with a bit more editing and polish. In this day and age of self and small company publishing, online and ebooks, readers will be more and more exposed to works of writing that do not have the benefit of professional editing and true third draft mauscripts

REVENANTS Fallen Savior is fresh, imaginative and personable. The characters have 3-D personalities that we care about. You'll want to find the answers and will enjoy the many discoveries along the way. I was so completely sucked into the story and the questions that Sherwood made me want to ask, that the book's ending became personal... He definitely made me care about his hero as well as the other characters. The visuals are worthy of being made into a movie and add a lot to the flavor of the story. I cannot wait for the next book of the series.

Kanna and Habilis are brothers. When they came of age, they were each sent off to a different region of the lands to rule. The brothers reigned for many years. Their parents were proud of them. A group of assassins came and murdered the brother's parents. The assassins hoped to spark rage within the brothers and cause war. The brothers kept level heads about them and banded together to destroy their enemy.

Kanna becomes greedy and betrays his brother. The two sides end up fighting each other and both brothers end up dead. A demon brings Kanna and Habilis back to life but not to the land of the living. It will be a battle of the third kind.

Revenants: Fallen Savior is the first book in this series. I didn't like this book as much as I did Mr. Sherwood's latest, Holding the Light. I didn't feel a strong connection to any of the characters and the plot seemed a little too out there for me. This was funny as Holding the Light had similar elements but they didn't work as well in this book. What I did like about this book is that the story line took place as a time period piece. Let me tell you though that when I hear the word...time period piece that I think of romances and Revenants: Fallen Savior is no romantic read.

HOLD THE LIGHT: Once you are Death, you can do anything but live.

Come find a lineage of unlucky souls' fates twisted into living as reapers, from the American Revolutionary War to the 1990's Boston.
"...Sherwood's novel is both ambitious and offers an original take on the age-old 'Grim Reaper' theology..." - Truth About Books

I'm a big fan of zombies, comic books, horror, dark sci-fi & fantasy and even literature (can be darker than horror!), as you will see in my books. Yet, I want to help keep genre fiction honest and create stories that build something new and challenging to concepts, not just rehashing someones good idea from a century ago.

Fun side fact: I designed all my book covers and website, as I am a visual/web designer by day and author (ok, maybe sleeper too) by night. Best time to write dark fantasy/horror books probably is the night anyway. You tell me - share your opinion with me and especially with others!
