Good music, worth it. I do not regret my purchase, looking forward for more Alastis music. I recommend it for anyone who likes metal.

gothic heavy black rock.,

dont be confused with the review title: this is exactly what sums up this band. generally short song structures that dont allow the music to be considered metal since metal is of a more epic nature (although this epicness is more than made up for with Alastis' lush keyboard passages). this is rock based music with black metal's aesthetics, but who cares when the music is that infectious. this is just to give you an idea of the style of music awaiting you with the now defunct swiss band Alastis.
guitars sound like a mix of lake of tears, mid 90's moonspell and tiamat; a gothic metal sound typical of the 90's. keyboards are put in the foreground like samael in their 'passage' album period, mid paced drumming and toneless black metal vocals akin to samael's Vorph. if all these elements appeal to you, then you're in for a treat. Alastis have vastly improved over the years with each new release outdoing its predecessor. their sense of melody and guitar work is top notch; simple hooking rhythmics are carried by underlying melodies and the whole is wrapped up with majestic keyboards that are so reminiscent of samael's best atmospheric moments. but although the keyboards are so present, they are continuously dueling with the monstrously riffing guitars. the music created invokes an ancient, archaic atmosphere mingled with sorrow and militant fatalism (suggested by the drumming and sharp ending of most songs here). it doesnt have to include a whining woman in fishnets to be considered gothic. and it's a pity that the album lasts less than 45 min. this is a worthy addition to your extreme music library for the weird musicality (it's almost metal yet it's not) and its memorable and sorrowful atmospheres. 4,5 stars

I got a chance to listen to this album and i must say I was shocked to hear this little pleasant suprise.I did'nt hear it all but I was immidiately reminded of a great little Greek band called Samael. It sounds alot more like their older stuff-hope that helps.Keyboard reigns here(over some medium paced distorted guitar)with some evil ass black metal style vokills.

The most romantic CD I have listened to.,

All the songs in the CD have the same basic flow. A soft smooth pace all the way through. It is ideal to listen to when the mood is romance. Enough change in pace for variety; however, not enough change where you feel like you have moved from romance to pop to jazz.
