4.0 out of 5 stars IRON FIRE - REVENGE, April 23, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Revenge (Audio CD)
"Revenge" is Danish power metal band Iron Fire's third album, released in 2006. It is in large part a stylistic return to their first album, "Thunderstorm".

"Revenge" is a little inconsistent - there are some quality songs here, and some that tend to fade from memory and get lost in the shuffle. A little more variety would have been nice.

This album was produced after a long hiatus for the band, and the listener can tell they have an axe to grind. Many songs are to some extent self-promoting - "Iron Fire" and "Ironhead" show up in the lyrics so much you'd think this was a hip hop album.

Nevertheless, "Revenge" is a fine power metal album. It was Iron Fire's best release to that point, and it laid the foundation for the eminently superior "Blade of Triumph".

This Record Is Great, probably my favorite of the five.
they have some great songs on this one such as "ironhead",
"wings of rage", "ice-cold Arion", And my favorite, the ballad "SAVAGE PROPHECY "
with this album they announce there return after getting kicked off
the Noise record lable and there switch to Napalm records and yes, I agree they were a little too stuck on that theme but they make up for it on the next record "Blade Of Triumph" anyway, if your
a true fan of power metal than you should give this album a chance.

4.0 out of 5 stars Almost getting back up on the heavy metal horse..., January 16, 2008

I'm in the same viking boat as the previous reviewer in that I loved the first album by these guys. The second album was kind of a dud, but there were some tracks that made it worth owning, and there were certain qualities that can only exist on an Iron Fire album. Then, enter 'Revenge'.

This album is pretty good and definitely suggests a return to form by the new and revised Iron Fire line up. Like the previous reviewer mentioned, Martin Steene definitely felt like he had a lot to get off his chest on this release. That didn't bother me so much, though. What really bothered me was how the album started off so strong with the first few tracks, and then kind of fell flat on its face. In my opinion, the second half of the album is pretty forgettable, and none of the tracks really stand out.

Still, it's Iron Fire, and the good tracks are completely awesome and manage to keep the entire album more than just afloat... If you are fans of their previous work, and have been thirsty for some true Iron Fire shred since the 'Thunderstorm' days, then I'd definitely give this a listen.

4.0 out of 5 stars they are back and in full force, but they have let a grudge over power this albums maturity, June 29, 2007

hello metallians, if you are wondering why 4 stars and not 5 here is why. this cd has some killer power metal anthems with soaring vocals and killer guitar riffs. the first album is my favorite and this cd has a little of that kind of sound to it. but what hurts this albums is this- most of the songs here and i mean nearly each song is all about the return of ironfire and stuff like we are back as iron heads and so on. that is cool to an extent but they do not let up about it. they spend to much of the album trying to make a point to the people who almost ruined their career before. you will hear them sing about how they are back and proud and strong and no one could bring them down and so on, i love my power metal and this cd is pretty good but it seems to me that if they had wrote more songs about epic fantasy type things and less songs about their return then this could have been a better album, now all criticism aside there are some great songs here that do have pretty cool storys and themes to them. you will find a few songs you will probably be skipping but you will also find a few that you will be cranking up and banging your IRONhead to. i like these guys and adore their 1st album with its steel attack type of riffage and i like this cd but i hope the next album is a little more mature and has a cool story theme that is about more than just how they are back on the scene. all you iron heads out there keep the metal cranked, your friend in metal brandon whitson, 25 of north carolina

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Singer and Great Album, September 15, 2007
By
This review is from: Revenge (Audio CD)
Although released in 2006, Revenge is a classic Power Metal album that rates up there with even the best of them. The key to really falling in love with Iron Fire is their carismatic singer Martin Steene. Probably not everyone's cup of tea as he has a certain whiny style that might not appeal to all but he is expressive and really brings the emotion to make a good song great. The song writing on Revenge is very good. Nothing overly ambitious, just good song after good song. Kind of like a classic Running Wild release.

On the limited Edition there are two bonus tracks. The song Gates To Cybertron is excellent and one of my favorites. It's a fast tune and although the pronunciation of the word Cyberton takes a little getting used to it really grows on you and is a [...] kicker of a song.

Iron Fire released the follow up Blade Of Triumph just recently as I write this review and it is very similar quality and a must buy as well for Power Metal fans or fans of Iron Fire.

4.5 of 5.0 stars
