4.0 out of 5 stars peachy version of the First Wives Club
In Ithaca, Georgia, the three housewives Nita Broadwell, Eadie Boone and Lavonne Zibolsky are married to three partners at the same law firm. However each of the women feel life is passing them by. They fill the void they feel in different ways. Nita loves erotic romance novels while lusting over carpenter Jimmy Lee Motes at the same time she detests her husband,...

1.0 out of 5 stars Revenge of the Kudzu Debutantes
This story had a chance to be funny, but the author lost it. I could barely wade through it, and wouldn't have if it hadn't been a "fun" selection by my book club. It wasn't fun. It was a chore. I only gave it a star above, because your system wouldn't let me leave it blank.

4.0 out of 5 stars peachy version of the First Wives Club, May 21, 2006
In Ithaca, Georgia, the three housewives Nita Broadwell, Eadie Boone and Lavonne Zibolsky are married to three partners at the same law firm. However each of the women feel life is passing them by. They fill the void they feel in different ways. Nita loves erotic romance novels while lusting over carpenter Jimmy Lee Motes at the same time she detests her husband, Charles who hurt her. A shocked Eadie refuses to let her spouse Trevor leaves her for his twentyish secretary whom he blithely announces he will marry soon. Finally Lavonne eats ice cream by the ton out of the carton to assuage her lack of appetite for her indifferent husband Leonard.

During the annual holiday office party the three wives learn that their husbands' annual getaway hunting trip is more about tracking expensive hookers. Angry the female trio vow vengeance on their womanizing mates when they go off into the wild chasing game; this time they will hook female impersonators as the trio sets in motion a complex strategy that the Pentagon would envy..

Though the story line seems straightforward with no surprises, chick lit readers will enjoy this peachy version of the First Wives Club as the dangerous femme fatales plot vengeance with military precision. There five-step revenge methodology proves quite reliable starting with their satirical escapades at the Kudzu Ball and continuing the parody until the infamous hunting trip. REVENGE OF THE KUDZU DEBUTANTES is a fun tale starring female buddies enacting revenge southern style.

4.0 out of 5 stars Three times the laughs with three women, May 28, 2006
Having read qulite a bit of chick lit, I have found the Kudzu Queens among the best. Often chick lit, focused on one protagonist, gets a bit tiring 3/4 of the way through: same girl, same problems, same jokes, stuck in the same rut. Cathy Holton, by bouncing between three lively bright women kept me on my toes as I read from the outrageous and sexy, to the lonely and neglected to the passive but brilliant. The variety of women and the pace of their vengeful scheme separates this Holton chick's lit from many others. A fun read: we can see little bits of our 30 and 40 year old selves throughout.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hunting trips will never be the same, June 1, 2006

Eadie's husband has left her for a younger version, Nita discovers that her husband has been unfaithful and Lavonne feels her marriage is slipping away from her. Then they find out that their husband's annual hunting trips have been more than advertised. Not only the animals but prostitutes have been provided. This is the final straw and the 3 friends swing into action.

The next hunting trip will be filled with surprises and if you're in a public place while you're reading it, you may find people staring at you because you're laughing out loud and shaking your head!!

When its all over, one of them will see her husband in a new light, one will find a new (and better love) and one will be crowned the queen of the Kudzu Ball - which is one of the funniest festivals you will ever read about.

One of the things I liked about this book (besides the fact it made me laugh more than once) is that even tho its about revenge, it is not mean-spirited.

A really fun read!

4.0 out of 5 stars Kuduz Deb's Rule!!!, September 15, 2007
This has to be one of the best reads of this summer. Being divorced myself, I wished I could have done some of the things "the girls" did in this book. It was a fun read and I look forward to the next installment of "The Deb's"

5.0 out of 5 stars THE GREATEST SOUTHERN BELL BOOK IN A LONG TIME, September 28, 2006
This is one that needs to be made into a movie. I can just see this being made into a film, provided that they do not stray from the book.
It is a fun read! One of the best books I have read in a LONG time.
Looking forward for more from this author.

5.0 out of 5 stars Funniest book I have read in years, July 6, 2007
This is a must read for anyone that enjoys a good, funny, southern belle book. Ms. Holton has written a book that should be made into a movie. I hope someone sends the book to someone like Penny Marshall. Can't you see Julia Roberts, Cathy Bates and Bett Midler playing the lead roles?

5.0 out of 5 stars Laugh out loud hilarious, October 20, 2006
I have stayed up late tonight to finish this wonderful novel and I have to go work in the morning - I laughed so hard at the hunting scenes that my ribs actually hurt. For anybody who wants to imagine revenge on some not so great husbands or boyfriends - this book will have you cheering for all the wonderful women in this book. I can not wait for the next book from this author.

4.0 out of 5 stars Southern Women and Revenge, June 24, 2011
This review is from: Revenge of the Kudzu Debutantes: A Novel (Kindle Edition)
What more could you want in a fun summer read than three southern women out to "get" their husbands for their infidelities. It's just fun and you have to love the characterizations of three different personalities and backgrounds and how the secret affects them differently.

4.0 out of 5 stars "Chick Lit" Summer Reading Fun, May 6, 2011
It is not about originality, or in-depth characterization; nor is it about expert plotting, or surprise twists at the end. It's not about any of that, cause `Revenge of the Kudzu Debutantes' has none of that to offer. What it is about, is the simple enjoyment of getting engaged in reading about three friends living in a southern small town with all it's stereotypical cliques'.

While you're reading about free spirited Eadie Boone who grew up poor, but married one of the first families of Ithaca, you'll feel her angst and cheer for her success. When business minded Lavonne realizes she's married to a shallow, self-centered man, you'll root for her payback with a satisfied smirk. And when Nita, the "good girl" who just wants a little loving, wakes-up to find her voice, you'll laugh at how perfectly it all works out. This is fun-as-you-go reading, that's perfect for the sunny days of summer.
