5.0 out of 5 stars one foot in front of the other is the greatest song ever
Words cannot express the brilliance of this soundtrack. The songs may sound like cheesy, dorky songs to you, but to me they are like the voice of God himself. Especially "One Foot in Front of the Other." My only complaint about the soundtrack, is that the picture on the front did not include either Booger or the random dork with the afro who got beat in...

Today's nerd movies rely on cheap sex jokes, heavy partying, gorgeous blondes, and boisterous jocks to make a statement....uh, wait.....actually, so does this movie, but it's still pretty cool!! With a surprisingly touching, very universal message and scene...

Especially "One Foot in Front of the Other." My only complaint about the soundtrack, is that the picture on the front did not include either Booger or the random dork with the afro who got beat in armwrestling. Also the rap song by Lamar at the charity contest should have been included. Come to think of it, this soundtrack really sucks.

Today's nerd movies rely on cheap sex jokes, heavy partying, gorgeous blondes, and boisterous jocks to make a statement....uh, wait.....actually, so does this movie, but it's still pretty cool!! With a surprisingly touching, very universal message and scene at the end (nerds deserve a chance in mainstream society), Revenge of the Nerds Part I rocks. All other movies like this afterward were mere imitators (especially the sequels to this monster). In 1984, however, the makers of this movie just wanted to have some fun, and that's reflected in the killer soundtrack, a totally new-wave, snyth-driven gem that pretty much anyone can enjoy - even the mean-spirited and stupid Ogars of the world. Sure, they could have included the Queen song and a few others, but those overplayed songs would simply take away from the unique 80's vibe that this soundtrack possesses. If you're a child of the 80's, you'll dig this sound.

NERDS UNITE!!

4.0 out of 5 stars an overlooked new wave soundtrack of the 80s because it lacks big names, March 20, 2007

If you are a junky of new wave movie soundtracks of the 80s (Breakfast Club, Sixteen Candles, Last American Virgin, etc) you should definitely give this one a go, because it is loaded with synth pop and guitar wave gems. I personally bought it for the track by Bone Symphony because it is produced by Giorgio Moroder apprentice Richie Zito, but I was surprised to find numerous fun 80s tracks that will definitely make their way into my 80s folder on my ipod.

1. Manhattan--synth pop with female vocal. Think vocals in the style of The Flirts, singing a bouncy ditty that sounds just like the song Iko Iko.

2. Don't Talk--guitar driven anthematic stomper with hot synth stabs. Song style remind me of Rick Springfield tracks--the male vocals and melody remind me of "We Built This City" by Starship.

3. One Foot In Front of the Other--LOVE it. Synth dance perfection, sounds like something you'd hear on Giorgio Moroder soundtracks like Scarface, but with new wave male vocals similar to that of the band Our Daughters Wedding (Lawnchairs).

4. Breakdown--80s funk/R&B sound, like New Edition.

5. Revenge of the Nerds--I can't believe this is the same group who does the song right before it. This is quirky Devo-esque/The Flirts/Total Coeli synthdance. Tons of fun.

6. They're so incredible--downtempo electronic dance track. Vocals have a sort of John Lydon edge to them, but more melodic.

7. Are You Ready--Remember "What Do All The People Know" by The Monroes? This is in that style, but slightly more rock oriented.

8. Are You Ready For The Sex Girls--TOTAL new wave novelty camp. Sort of has the feel of something by The Cars.

9. Right Time For Love--ah...the love song. A male/female duet. Nice stuff, but should have been the last track on the disc so as not to interrupt the flow.

10. All Night Party--moody synth rock, reminds me of Split Enz.

This CD was fun to listen to since I love the movie so much. But, the songs were really not that great.

I simply bought this for the track "One Foot In Front Of The Other". after being reminded of it during a Family Guy episode, I couldn't get the song out of my head.

The other tunes are good, but just not as memorable - to me. So, check out the audio samples and listen for yourself. :)

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome party music! Just watch the movie!, July 18, 1998
Good, rare, songs such as the self titled song and "One foot in front of the other" and wonderful crowd pleasing songs like "Burnin' down the house" and "Are you ready for the sex girls" that are sure to get your new-wave flashback party going.

4.0 out of 5 stars Really Cool 80s tunes, November 28, 2011

I don't buy movie soundtracks. This is probably one of two I have. Most of the tracks on this disc have a lot of positive energy. I came of age during the 80s so that is the sound that puts a smile on my face and gets me going. The Bone Symphony tracks are why I bought this but others I've also become fond of. I paid about $15 for it and it was worth it. It's a one time payment. Not a recurring fee.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good, October 10, 2008

This is a classic New Wave album. The track by Bone Symphony is worth the price of the disc. Regardless of whether or not the nerds will ever truly get their vengeance, this album is a must have for all first wave of New Wave fans. As a postscript, if you have a job (like I do) that includes occasional menial labor, throw "One Foot in Front of the Other" on your iPod, and jam out whenever you get down on our capitalist society. If the Bolsheviks were alive today, it would indubitably be the song in their hearts. I am convinced that if Bone Symphony played a bigger part in investment banker's lives, we could have averted this whole lousy financial crisis.
