Book Description

Book #1 - Revenge of the Taken
Book #2 - Return of the Taken
Book #3 - coming fall 2014!

Every year in America, thousands of women disappear never to be seen again, and one man has dedicated his life to finding them...

Humble Walker has an amazing gift rooted deep in an ancient Navajo legend. It's a power that may be as limitless as his imagination, if he could only learn how to control it.

Waging a clandestine war in the shadows of the New York City underground, Humble has taken on an unassuming drug research facility, abducting women for nefarious mind control experiments. They're powerful, corrupt, and have perfected a brain-altering narcotic like the world has never seen.

Beautiful and spunky Kat Carson is the latest victim. Taken from her comfortable suburban life, she represents a tipping point in the ongoing battle, but all she wants is her life back. With the help of Humble and a small band of refugees, she has a fighting chance.

Even with the best plans, things can go horribly wrong. Unthinkable betrayal derails their efforts and backs them into a corner. But, that is the one place you don't want to put Humble Walker.

Praise for Revenge of the Taken:

2.0 out of 5 stars Enthusiastically but poorly written April 24, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I appreciate the author's effort, but he needs to work on his craft more. The characters were paper-thin and obvious. Action sequences were decent, which allowed me to finish. Also, springing for an editor would go a long way. There were numerous typos and errors.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fast paced and draws you right in October 4, 2012
By Tristan
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Revenge of the Taken had me hooked from the start! From his vivid descriptions to his intriguing mystery man, Shane Scollins did an excellent job with what is bound to be an amazing series. He makes you realize that this could easily be real and then pulls you in with bated breath hoping to see what's next! I'm looking forward to seeing more from this author, because I've found once you've found one book you can't put down, there's bound to be more!

5.0 out of 5 stars Well written October 12, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I was drawn in by the amazing cover art, truth be told. But the story just sucked me right in.

The book is well written but the language is not pretentious. That is a big sell to me. The first page opens right into the action and kept me trnngpages all morning. The hardest part about reading the book was the wait in between putting it down in the morning and my lunch hour (when I could read it again).

Good job, Mr. Scollins. I look forward to see whoa else you bring to us in your series.

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing April 5, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
The story started off well with a vivid description of a desperate but courageous young woman's escape from her kidnappers. Her terror, physical pain, but determination and eventual rescue is well portrayed. Then comes the "info dump" which brings the flow to a screeching halt despite the "plot" barreling ahead in hopes that the readers are still on board. Handsome, mysterious Navajo hero with a touch of the supernatural organizes young women rescued from mind control experiments by a sadistic evil corporation which has infiltrated all levels of government so no one else can be trusted. The heroine from the first scene cannot go home or contact anyone for fear of the corporation's far reaching influence. Half hour of gun training, and she's installed as the newest recruit. Really? I require some logic with my supernatural and "Show don't tell" in my reading. Didn't find it in this book. Give it a pass.

2.0 out of 5 stars Nice idea but... March 28, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I am an avid reader, and this book was very sub par for me. I found the writing repetitive with analogies that wore on the reader over time... The characters were very two dimensional with descriptions and conjectures drawn that didn't improve the flow of the story. It is a very good idea, but the novel should have been edited better before being published. I would not recommend this to anyone who is an established reader.

4.0 out of 5 stars Awesome way to spend a day! October 21, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Plan to take a day off from life, because once you start reading this book, you will not want to put it down! Shane Scollins tastefully weaves an intricate tale with powerful characters and a fresh writing style that will have you hooked within the first few pages. What could be a complicated topic gives just enough information to understand without getting bogged down in too-heavy detail to slow the momentum of the story. Smart, sexy, writing and when the scene gets violent the author does not get unnecessarily gory (I really appreciate that!) download and enjoy!

4.0 out of 5 stars Interesting SciFi novel March 27, 2013
By M. ANNE
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This is the first book of the Humble Walker series. It was a well written and quite interesting new scifi book. The characters were pretty well drawn and the storyline was interesting to keep my interest through the book. I will be reading more of these ones. First time I had read this author as well. Recommend for those who enjoy good sic fi.

3.0 out of 5 stars different May 13, 2013
By Reese
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I enjoyed the matter of fact way this was written. This is definitely different from other books I have read.
A guy who comes out of no where and rescues a girl from being abducted. He is a hero and yet there is nothing else just a factual display of information for us. He displays no emotion or opinion just facts about the women he saves and the enemies he wants to destroy. I believe it is a story of black and white with no grey areas.

That's ok I enjoyed it and it kept me interested. But I couldn't relate to the characters or see any bonds.

This was not a terrible book, I just couldn't get into it. The writing was decent and the characters were ok, but that's the best word I could find to describe it: Okay.
