Massie Block, the leader of The Clique, is furious when she hears about Alicia's plans to form her own clique. After all, she's the leader, and that's how it should stay. Besides, doesn't Alicia realize that messing with Massie will do nothing more than leave her in one very undesired place - The Reject Pile? As for new-girl turned It-girl Claire Lyons, she's finally in. Not only is she a coveted member of the Clique, but she's also got Cam, a Briarwood boy, showering her with affection. But will Massie be willing to keep Claire in her inner circle, or dump her like last season's Sevens? Kristen Gregory, she's in the middle of two cliques, and her friendship is now more coveted than the new Louis Vuitton bag. The question is, whom will she choose? Dylan Marvil, she knows that Massie is up to something bad. Real bad. What it is, she has no idea. She might not stick around to find out. But if she leaves the Clique to join Alicia's new clique, will Massie replace her with a Dylan clone? Then there's Alicia Rivera. She may have credit cards and clothes galore. But does she truly have what it takes to be the leader of a clique?

I will be the first to admit that THE CLIQUE has become one of my biggest guilty pleasure reads. The characters are enjoyable vicious, stuck-up, and rich, with the chauffeur's, credit cards, and clothes to prove it. Their many rude confrontations with each other couldn't be more exciting to read about, and the amount of name-dropping they do will keep any celebrity monger on their toes. Lisi Harrison has struck gold with this series, and it only keeps getting better and better. If you're looking for something reminiscent of GOSSIP GIRL, check out THE CLIQUE. I dare you.

3.0 out of 5 stars the clique is just not clicking, February 23, 2005
This review is from: The Revenge of the Wannabes (The Clique, No. 3) (Paperback)
Alicia has had it with Massie. She is sick of always having to be 2nd. She decides to break out and start her own click. After all, no one should be "in" for such a long time, right? Meanwhile, Massie, Kristen, Dylan, and Claire (the newest member of the clique at last)are furious at Alicia for cheating on the fashion design contest. Alicia thinks she's got it going on, but she forgot how powerful Massie is. After she is formally ostracized from the Clique, its a battle between the "wannabes" and the Clique. Alicia recruits Olivia (Faux), and a group of look alikes to be in her group. Massie manages to crash Alicia's modeling shoot. Meanwhile, Massie still likes Cam- will she manage to break Claire and him up? When Alicia deviously manages to turn everyone against Massie, will it be the end of the Clique forever?

4.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely Fabulous for teens, August 30, 2005
This review is from: The Revenge of the Wannabes (The Clique, No. 3) (Paperback)
This is the third book in the Clique series that revolves around the hilarious antics of the gutsy and gullible Massie Block and Alicia Rivera, who run the show at the Octavian Country Day School (OCD). In this episode, Alicia is fed up with being beta to Massie's alpha. She wants out of the Pretty Committee to start her own clique. She strikes first by switching the ballot boxes in the OCD school uniform design contest to make sure that Massie doesn't win and she does. As the so-called winner, Alicia is asked to model for Teen People magazine and also to invite a few friends to the fashion shoot, which she uses as bait to lure the unpopular girls into her clique. She soon discovers that the care and feeding of a clique is a lot harder than it looks. What with clever carpool conversation to conjure, juicy gossip to track, dirty tricks to plan, and oh so many backs to stab, Alicia has her hands full. Meanwhile Massie gets wind of the ballot box switcheroo, the photo shoot, and the new clique. She plots her revenge. What ensues is no ordinary cat fight because these girls are both ruthless AND rich. Armed with limos and credit cards, no evil mischief or expense is too over-the-top, no matter whom they trample in the process. When the fur flies, nobody's secret is safe.

A fast-paced, fun read, "Revenge of the Wannabes" is like "Absolutely Fabulous" for teens. Alicia and Massie are as outrageous and obnoxious as Patsy and Edina, which makes for non-stop, wacky comedy.

2.0 out of 5 stars Please Please Please Let Me Get What I Want This Time, August 28, 2005
This review is from: The Revenge of the Wannabes (The Clique, No. 3) (Paperback)
To have Massie and her "Pretty Commitee" to be mowed down by daddy's 75,000 dollar Bentley. With sophmoric plot lines "Ehmahgod, they stole our box and won the fashion show?!". Grating, constant name dropping (yes we get it, you're cool because you drink starbucks and have a sick obsession with becoming famous with no talent, very chic.) I myself am just a few years older then these girls (14 on Sunday) and come from an upper-middle class neighborhood but I'm not anything like these kids, and neither are any of the other people I know. Lisi Harrison is living out a far-fetched uber-bitch teen dream that in the early novel was slightly refreshing with it's lack of retribution for the snobs but is now just annoying.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best out of all three., April 6, 2005
This review is from: The Revenge of the Wannabes (The Clique, No. 3) (Paperback)
I loved this book! The Revenge of the Wannabes (The Clique, #3) is better than the first two Clique books. This book is about Alicia, mainly, who tries to branch out away from the "Pretty Commitee". Her friends from jazz class say things like, "you have more money than Massie", "Your house is much bigger", "You should have your own sleepovers". Alicia follows their advice, but she get more than she can handle. Massie, K, & D make sure Alicia gets what she is asking for. The thing that hurts Alicia the most is when they say Claire is the new Alicia. Read the book to find out who wins this catfight! Meow. =D

5.0 out of 5 stars I love the Clique!, August 22, 2005
A Kid's Review
This review is from: The Revenge of the Wannabes (The Clique, No. 3) (Paperback)
First of all let me say that I absolutely love these books . . . Second of all they are highly unrealistic. I am the exact same age as Massie, Claire, and the rest of the gang, and I happen to live in Westchester, in the richest neighborhood in it, and I certainly don't wear Marc Jacobs pumps, carry a Louis Vuitton bag, or drive in a fridge-, tv-, and minibar-equipped Range Rover to school every day. I don't have credit cards or an unlimited clothes allowance, and I definitely don't have a five-acre estate to live on. It's also unrealistic how popular 7th graders are . . . I mean do 7th grade girls, no matter HOW hot they are, really think they can date superpopular 11th graders (Harris)? And how EVERYBODY in Westchester County knows Massie? Come on.
However, I love reading these books!

*Spoiler Alert* Do not read on if you haven't read the books.

This one is probably my favorite, as Claire is finally IN and she gets Cam at last! Massie is finally nice and they finally take revenge on Alicia for cheating (not a great thing to do to your BFFS).

The cattiness of the girls is what makes these books good. Even though Gossip Girl is not a book for 12-13 year olds, I have read 2 of them and like the Cliques infinitely better--for my age at least. The Cliques are essentially Gossip Girl - sex - drinking - drugs = great!

This book was amazing, I especially loved seeing Alicia knocked down a peg when Harris used her and didn't ask her out, and how Massie didn't get Cam but got Derrington, the guy Kristen and Dylan loved in the last book.

I thought the ending was kind of cheesy, but I still liked it. I don't get how the Lyonses are moving to Chicago . . . I guess I'll just have to wait for Invasion of the Boy-Snatchers.

Keep reading and loving the Clique! :)

5.0 out of 5 stars Really good book!, February 25, 2005
A Kid's Review
This review is from: The Revenge of the Wannabes (The Clique, No. 3) (Paperback)
I really enjoy the clique series. They always keep me turning the pages and this one did just that. In this book you get to hear Alicia's side of the story, which is interesting. My only complaint was that sometimes Alicia's side of the story got a little annoying, but besides that, it was a good book!

Young girls should not be exposed to such trash. I don't know what this author is thinking except that maybe she can make money by feeding into the ugly side of popularity... Genuine girls, Stay away.. This book is not for you!

5.0 out of 5 stars wow!! Revenge of the Wannabes is one of my fav books!!, February 24, 2005
A Kid's Review
This review is from: The Revenge of the Wannabes (The Clique, No. 3) (Paperback)
Ok, Revenge of the Wannbes is all about five girls going to Octavian Country School. Four of them (now five, since Claire is included now!!) are in a close clique, and they're mean to many of the other students. One girl in the clique, Alicia, is fed up with Massie (the leader) and decides that she wants to defy her. Massie is horrified!!
Meanwhile, Claire and Cam are having some relationship problems, since Massie is always butting in.
Wanna read some more? You'd better read the book to find out!

FIVE STARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Revenge of the Wannabes, April 3, 2005
A Kid's Review
This review is from: The Revenge of the Wannabes (The Clique, No. 3) (Paperback)
I was very impressed with the third additition to the Clique series. The plot thickens as Alicia tries to break away from Massie's group and tries to form her own. She even goes to such lengths as to add members that look similar to her former friends. Kristen and Dylan are torn between the two groups just as Claire enters the scene as part of Massies's clique. Secrets are unvealed, gossip circulates, and Massie is determined that she will not be defeated by Alicia. This book is written at a different perspective than the previous books and mostly focuses on Alicia. I would definently recommend this book to all readers!
