Not the classic, but not a dud,

I purchased this pot at a local retailer when I discovered I needed a stainless steel pot for making cheese at home. All of my cookware, which I have been just this side of replacing for a year, is nonstick. I'm not a fan of nonstick for anything except the cleanup process -- and when it begins to deteriorate, it's flat out unheatlhy. So I was excited about the prospect of buying a nice stainless pot that I could also use in the oven.
The good about this pot: - Although the copper coating on the bottom is thin, after several batches of cheese I have not seen any scorching when working on an electric coil stove. - For its size, it is very lightweight. - I have had no trouble cleaning it, even removing the residue from working with coagulated dairy products. (However, it must be cleaned properly!) - The lid seals tightly and the handles are well-made and easy to work with. - It can go from stovetop to oven, making it a viable option for recipes like goulash or roasts without having to go to a cast iron pot. - Its configuration (tall and narrow) means that it does not hang over the sides of a large coil burner and retains heat well. The negatives: - As other reviewers have stated, this is not the RevereWare of old. It is thinner, not as finely milled inside, and can't be used on glasstop surfaces. - You actually have to clean it. Many people have gotten spoiled with nonstick cookware and no longer know what it's like to have to soak and soap a pot right after using it in order to keep from ruining it. I don't personally consider this a negative, but it's definitely a consideration if you're a "cook today, clean tomorrow" kind of person. You will pay far, far more than the price of this pot for a heavy stainless or coated cast iron item of the same capacity. With a clear understanding of its limitations, I think it's an excellent addition to my kitchen.

This is NOT your mother's RevereWare!,

I was greatly disappointed with this product. It did not have the traditional heavy copper and stainless bottom and sides that I expect from Revere. It has just a thin coating of copper on the bottom which would not do an adequate job of distributing the heat which would translates to hot spots. Tapping the bottom sounded like a cheap tin drum. I returned the product for a full refund. I will buy my Reverware from eBay from now on.

Not for flat surface stoves,

Nothing in the review said this would not work on a flat stovetop surface. I just tried to boil water and it was bouncing all over and the water was splashing out. I guess it would have been better on any other surface but I didn't find out before I bought it.

Extending a tradition....,

This stock pot is the ideal energy saver amongst its other attributes- beauty, durability, value... all so readily found in the Revere line. The tall, narrow configuration allows less heat to be lost from the contents. One can set the burner heat lower as a result. I received my first Revere ware as a gift over 50 years ago and those pots are still in great shape. This new addition will outlive me and serve my grandchildren well.

I love all my revere cookware. I have had other brands and they just don't hold up.
Not a fan of nonstick. I hate it when it starts coming off, so I always prefer stainless steel. My favorite revere pots have the aluminum disc bottom. They are the best for candy making as you need that heavy thick plate to cook the candy without burning.

My wife wanted a lightweight copper bottom Revere Ware as we had before. Bought it specifically for cooking pasta and/or corn. Water heats up fast. Easy to clean and it arrived from Amazon quickly and in perfect shape and in time for a Christmas gift.

Too thin of a coat...good for soup cooking in large quantity,
This review is from: Revere 1400 Line 12-Quart Restaurant Style Stockpot with Cover (Kitchen)
My wife did not like this too much. Her main complaint is that it is too thin and is NOT 'nonstick' making her life miserable cleaning it.
