4.0 out of 5 stars older is better
I have two 58 year old Revere Ware pans that are in great condition. The new ones have less copper, and stain much more easily. I am disappointed, to say the least. They are not as good as they once were. I suppose current management has sacrificed quality for profit.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not classic Revere ware
With the purchase of this set, I now own Revere ware made in at least three different locations. I own 16 older pieces made in Clinton, IL in the U.S., four unmarked double boiler and steamer inserts from the same vintage, one tea kettle made in China, and now this set of 7 pieces made in Indonesia, which I just purchased for a guest kitchen.

While these...

While these Indonesian made pieces are the same style and sizes as the older U.S. made pieces, they are not manufactured in the same way. The primary difference is in the bottoms. The finish on the copper on the bottoms is rougher, and more importantly, the bottoms are slightly warped. The bottoms can be popped in to be slightly concave, or popped out to be slightly convex, but they aren't flat. In addition, the tops don't fit perfectly snugly.

That's quite different from the older Revere ware pieces manufactured in Clinton IL, whose bottoms are flat and are much smoother. For this reason, you should be skeptical of recommendations for Revere ware which mention how they've been in use for many decades, since those recommendations are likely based on the better quality pieces made years ago, rather than the pieces now available.

All that said, most of the pieces in this Indonesian made set are serviceable. While the skillet might not be perfect for pan frying, the saucepans and dutch oven should be fine for sauces, soups, or other water based cooking. The copper on the bottoms appears thick enough to even out the heat distribution, unlike the copper plate found on some cheap knockoffs. At this price, the set is acceptable as an inexpensive starter set that will do for a casual cook - or for use until one can afford high end pieces from places like Williams Sonoma, or used U.S. made Revere ware from auction sites.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not what I expected!, June 16, 2008
This review is from: Revere 1400 Line 7-Piece Set (Kitchen)
This Revere 1400 Line is very light-weight with lids that don't fit. The bottom surfaces aren't flat, and the pans wobble on my glass top range. Steam escapes because the lids are very loose. After boiling water in the pans, spots appeared on the inside surface. I thought this could be the last set of pots and pans I bought, but that's not the case. Revere should be ashamed of the quality of these pans manufactured in Indonesia.

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed w/Revereware, February 4, 2009
This review is from: Revere 1400 Line 7-Piece Set (Kitchen)
We have purchased Revereware in the past and have always been satisfied with their pots, UNTIL this last purchase. The pots weren't as heavy and were NOT made in the USA like the previous pots we have bought. You can pull on these pots and see how flimsy they actually are. I am very
disappointed with Revereware

4.0 out of 5 stars 23 years and still cooking..., September 28, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Revere 1400 Line 7-Piece Set (Kitchen)
This cookware was a wedding gift. I use it on an almost daily basis. Of course, I have more expensive pots and pans but I always reach for the Revere. It heats fast and cleans easily. It is durable and I have been pleased with it for many years.

1.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing Christmas Present, January 10, 2011

I received the Revereware seven piece set for Christmas. I've used the frying pan maybe four times. It warped. The current pans are not the same quality they were 15 years ago. The stainless steel is not as thick and the copper bottoms look painted on. I'm afraid to give them a good scrubbing for fear of scrubbing the copper right off. The pans are also not made in America any more and the poor quality of the pan reflects that. I am disappointed.

I was disapointed in this product. It is made of steel of a lesser gauge. It is thinner. One of the pots was 1/2 pound lighter than my original same size pot made in USA.

1.0 out of 5 stars garbage, January 23, 2011
This review is from: Revere 1400 Line 7-Piece Set (Kitchen)
The new made in Indonwsia pans are a piece of garbage. Warped covers do not fit tight, less copper, stain and do not clean as well as the older pans which I still have 3 about 35 years old. Never buy these products workmanship is awful just like the pans you can buy at the dollar store use once and throw away pieces of garbage. No more quality and pride in workmanship. I am returning the new pans which we bought friday and used saturday never again. Profit over product ruins another made in america product. Thanks corning ware for buying revere ware and ruining a very good product...

3.0 out of 5 stars "Almost Revereware", May 11, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Revere 1400 Line 7-Piece Set (Kitchen)
I am quite disappointed with these pans. I grew up with Revereware, so I was thrilled when I found them available on Amazon. They seem to be only half as heavy as the old pans (I still have one) - they are like an aluminum beer can compared to an older tin one; they feel as if they'll melt at first use. In fact one of them almost did. These are a poor rendition of an old friend.
