Product Description

Revere Stainless Steel 2-Quart Steamer

REVERE cookware have been part of American history since patriot and silversmith Paul Revere started making copper sheathing for naval vessels in 1801. Paul founded Revere Copper Company which evolved into Copper and Brass, Inc., the makers of Revere Ware Copper Clad Stainless Steel Cookware. Today, REVERE cookware is one of the most recognized and preferred brands of metal rangetop cookware, known by consumers for its legendary heritage, quality and durability. With a strong commitment to consumer research and technological advancement, the REVERE cookware team constantly introduces new, innovative products adapted to changing consumer needs.

Revere 2-Quart Stick Handle Steamer

Soft, ergonomic, "pistol grip" stay-cool handles ensure a confident, comfortable hold. 1 Year Warranty.

CARE AND USE

  • All Revere cookware can be used on gas and electric coil ranges. Tri-Ply / Encapsulated cookware can also be used on most smooth-top ranges. Consult the owner's manual of your range for recommended cookware.
  • BEFORE USING FOR THE FIRST TIME: Wash cookware thoroughly with hot, soapy water. Rinse and dry.
  • Oven Use: REVERE cookware can be used in a preheated oven. Phenolic handles and knobs can be used in oven up to 350 degrees F or 175 degrees C. DO NOT put in oven when self-cleaning cycle is operating.
  • DO NOT use bleach or other chlorinated cleaners.
  • To prevent warping, let cookware cool before coming into contact with water.
  • To remove burned-on food, soak before cleaning and scrub with plastic scouring pad if necessary.
  • Use a non-abrasive stainless steel cleaner to remove heat discoloration (rainbow appearance) or food stains (from starchy foods).
  • Salt can "pit" stainless steel surfaces. Add salt to liquid only after it reaches the boiling point and stir to dissolve. DO NOT store acidic or salty foods in cookware.
  • Constant dishwasher cleaning will remove the gloss from the phenolic handles and cover knobs.
  • It is the nature of copper to discolor through the application of heat as well as from climatic conditions. These stains are merely an oxide film and can be removed with a copper cleaner.

This steamer works great and is a good size for everyday use for a couple or small family. I used to use one of the folding steamers but got tired of the difficulty of removing it and the steamed food from the pan. This style of steamer works well, and the Revere brand is a good product at a good price.

I already owned the saucepan that goes underneath the steamer. I bought the steamer on Amazon and it fits perfectly on top of my saucepan. My mother already owned the set, and she's been using it for years. Very durable.

Yep, I had some 20-year-old Revere Ware pots and this steamer fit my 2 qt pan with no problem. And the lid from the pan fit the steamer. It's plenty big to steam two large sweet potatoes, and probably more. Exactly what I needed and the price was good too!

First the good news, and the reason for the 3 stars: this steamer is a good size for 1-2 people, allowing the steaming of a pile of healthful veggies, tofu and I'm sure some fish/shrimp/chicken/beef whatever when I get around to it. I boil brown rice in the pot, then veggies/protein in the steamer for an easy complete meal.

The not so good news: I have a some older revere ware copper bottom pots, and the quality on this new item is not up to the Revere made in USA standard. The handle seems to be joined from two hollow pieces, with a noticeable, not very well finished seam, instead of made from solid material like the old pots. The rivet holding the handle is neither as finely machined nor as well finished from a craft standpoint. The metal in the pot itself doesn't have that solid, dense patina that seems like it will last forever (and it does in the older pots). It's very shiny, in the way that chrome is shiny. The roll/crimp around the top of the pot is not closed over as tightly, leaving a noticeable gap.

These quality flaws are passable in a low-cost steamer insert, but if this was a pot purporting to be Revere quality, compared to what I know as Revere, I would be dissatisfied. Nothing wrong with a low-end pot I guess. But I would not purchase Revere based on reputation alone again, and that's a shame.

This is a fabulous item for anyone who loves steaming food. It is also extremely rare - you can find hundreds of "large" steamers (more than about 12" in diameter), but this is the only one that is small (7.5" in diameter)... ideal for people with small kitchens/cabinets that wouldn't normally accommodate the large steamers. And I haven't been able to find this item anywhere else.

This steamer is excellent; it fits on both the 2 and 3 quart pots, and does an amazing job on veggies (that's all I've tried so far). Definitely a must-have.

I love Revereware, but I, like others, can feel the difference in the newer ones verses the older ones in weight...I wish I could find some older models still! Nice steamer though...still waiting on the double boiler set I bought at the same time...
