Reverie,
By E. E. Dickenson "Nobody" (New York) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Reverie (Audio CD)
There is something delicately powerful about Reverie, that elevates it from the ordinary to the extraordinary. Both minimalist and full, there is a yearning that Louis Ledford's mellifluously mournful voice conveys through poetic lyrics exquisitely enrobed in poised melodies. This is Tom Waits storytelling meets Alison Kraus musicianship. More fragile than maudlin, this CD transcends time and space creating an immediacy between Ledford and his listeners. Ledford's easy style invites you to join him in his abstracted musing, his daydreaming, his reverie.

Pretty powerful stuff,
By Bt "Cat." (Parts unknown) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Reverie (Audio CD)
Louis is one of the more talented songwriter's in the business today however, I can't understand why he's so underrated. When he does a "full-band" number, his sound leans into a bluesy folkish territory. When he's doing an acoustic number, look out, you'll hear something very powerful as this is the kind of stuff you only hear once in a while. Excellent.
