1.0 out of 5 stars very disappointing, December 25, 1998
This review is from: Reverse the Aging Process Naturally: How to Build the Immune System With Antioxidants--The Super-nutrients of the Nineties (Gary Null Natural Health Library) (Paperback)
I ordered this book hoping to find a state of the art paper on how to "build the immune system with antioxidants". Having heard wonderful things about Gary Null I was confoundly disappointed. The first two thirds of the book is a rehash of nutritional difficulties in the American diet, which almost any gradeschooler could recite to you. The remaining few pages, actually spent on the antioxidants and their value(s), are very basic. If you know anything at all about basic nutrition, eat fruits veggies and take some supplements, you will find this book disappointingly trivial. My recommendation to you is save your money and invest it in some good antioxidants and/or some orange juice.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not up to Gary's standards., November 21, 2001

This review is from: Reverse the Aging Process Naturally: How to Build the Immune System With Antioxidants--The Super-nutrients of the Nineties (Gary Null Natural Health Library) (Paperback)
I hope readers of this book won't base their opinion of Gary Null on what they find. I have several of his titles, and am a regular listener and fan of his radio program. This book was my first disappointment.
I was hooked because of the title, and the hope that the book would contain information on exciting life extension techniques we have all heard of, and Gary has talked about on his program. (Hormones, HGH, DHEA, melatonin,low-calorie diets and other striking life extension research are tantalizing.) However, the book seemed to be little more than a disorganized, novice overview of antioxidants and environmental pollutants. Most of the information being many years old.
The book has very little to offer about "REVERSING The Aging Process" as it's title implied. I can only assume the book got it's name because this was considered a catchy title at the time.
One of Gary's few problems is that he is so bright, he believes that "more information is better," and he is far less concerned with the quality of the information, or it's organization into a useful form for we laymen. This book is a good example of that.
I would HIGHLY recommend his other books, such as "The Joy of Juicing," which is stunning! But, if you want to slow your aging process, I don't think this book will add many years to your life(unless you count the time it takes to read it).
It pains me to criticize Gary, but he has set his own high standard with other works to live up to.

2.0 out of 5 stars Title caught my attention, November 26, 2001
This review is from: Reverse the Aging Process Naturally: How to Build the Immune System With Antioxidants--The Super-nutrients of the Nineties (Gary Null Natural Health Library) (Paperback)
The title caught my attention first. I own five or six of Gary Null's books. When I find another of his books that looks good I by it. It reads like a text book, it is very dry. The information is not new. It is a short book, good as a reference unless you are a nutrition nut. Sadly in this book, Gary is rehashing the beans. I'm disappointed when authors do this. A master nutritionist, he could do better.
