I bought this for my Eclipse Spyder. I can't see a whole around me when I have the top up which was the reason for this purchase. The camera has a great picture on it, day or night. Everything is nice and clear and the colors are fine. There's also a guide that it has to help when you're backing up. The bracket that you use to mount it can be moved from the bottom to either the top or behind depending on where you need to mount it. Hook up the power feed to your backup light to power it. Then run the video cable to inside the car...that will be the biggest issue. That took me about an hour to do. The only downside I would mention would be the instructions or the lack of clear instructions in English. But it's pretty obvious as the how it needs to be hooked up.

As someone else said THIS CAMERA IS NOT WATERPROOF. The first time it rained the camera was ruined. Even when new, this camera was not great. Images were blurry, uneven illumination caused the image to bloom. Spend a little more and get a CCD camera. There is no way to flip the image horizontinally, if one has a factory BU camera in another vehicle, the images are opposite L-R and makes it confusing to use. Most BU cameras flip the image to appear it is being viewed in a rear view mirror, not this one.
Take a look at one of the Boyo CCD cameras instead...BOYO VTL375HD HD Rear View Camera

Installed this on the back of a 20' enclosed utility trailer. The unit is small and easy to install. Has adjustable mount. So I could see behind my trailer while backing up or just driving down the road I tapped into the running light circuit instead of the back up circuit. Makes it more effective.

This thing is surprisingly good for twenty-some bucks. I agree with the other positive reviewers.

I screwed mine onto the bed of my truck, just below the tailgate and above the bumper. Since mine is more exposed than an in-trunk install, the screws are starting to rust (after one month, with no salt on the roads; just from rain). So for an outside installation, remove all 6 screws and paint them with some anti-rust paint. Too bad the manufacturer didn't spend a couple more cents to use rust-proof screws.

BTW, the lines on the screen don't really help, but I can ignore those considering the price. Video quality is pretty good.

And since you're running the video cable into your cabin, you might as well run the power cable there, too. The power wire from my camera goes to a rocker switch I installed in the dashboard, then behind the dash to a power outlet (cigarette lighter) wire.

I ordered a few months ago to replace another camera I had hooked up to my Garmin Dezl 5inch GPS. The other camera worked perfect but was made to go on the license plate and I wanted something I could install more center on my Jeep. Well, I finally got a chance to switch the cameras and this one worked okay for backing up, however it keeps making the screen on my GPS flash while driving and it should be turned off. I finally unplugged the input for the camera to the GPS and flash problem is gone. I did not have this problem with my first camera, however I already gave my first camera to someone else. So now I am looking for something better then this one. Be wary with this one. I guess I can plug and unplug the camera input till I get a replacement if I really need to use the back up for hitching my boat to trailer.

The below one was the original. I had this for about 6 months, then the camera started to flicker. After a month, it melted, and fried my fuse. Had to re-wire my tail lights and rip off all the damaged areas. I was initially impressed with it, but after melting, I will never buy something this cheap again.

Mine works great. It has been through rain and no issues. I don't know why everyone else's sucks, but for the price, you really can't complain.

Bought this camera head as a supposedly direct equal replacement for one that went bad due to water / condensation forming INSIDE the camera lens area, that was mounted on the overhead ladder rack of my work van, directly above the rear swing-out doors and bumper area. This newly bought camera was advertised as, and is SUPPOSED to have "9 LED" Night Vision, and it TRULY has ONLY SEVEN infrared night vision LEDs', which I'm sure will make it fairly USELESS for night vision. My older true 9 LED camera was just BARELY capable of night vision for any distances more than 6 feet away from the camera lens itself. I would send this one back to Amazon.com for a refund, but the postage will cost more than the price of the refund. Guess I'll just have to restrict my expectations to daytime use ONLY. The camera head's outer plastic case also has four small holes in the back half of the case, for INTERIOR screws (that evidently hold the interior PC Board), which will DEFINITELY make it less than "Waterproof" by any means. I will be sealing THOSE holes with Silicone RTV sealant to try to stem the tide of water intrusion from rain and car washes, so it won't do the same thing the one I'm replacing did. Haven't had the chance to power it up for actual functionality testing, yet; am still waiting for the Silicone RTV to cure before handling & mounting it on my work van.
