this book changed my life forever for the better, August 15, 2003
Like the author, I have had horrendous asthma since I was born (I'm now 30). I've been on ALL the asthma meds (inhalers, pills, steroids, myrax, etc.). A HUGE animal lover, I got a dog two years ago and my asthma got even worse (like it could get any worse). I was taking my rescue inhaler 6-10 times a day in addition to my steroids! I told myself I had to do something, so I bought a bunch of books, including this one. Took the test in this book, found out my asthma was moderate to severe (I figured that). I started taking fish oil, vit c, e, a multiple, calcium, magnesium, selenium and quercitin, and a b-complex like he recommends, and SLOWLY (over 4-5 months) weaned myself off of my meds (I was extrememly addicted, and let me tell ya, it was HARD!). It's been over 6 months now that I haven't needed ANY meds, not even in the morning, haven't even had a shortness of breathe, and to top it off, my doggie sleeps in my bed right next to me now, and she doesn't give me the slightest bit of wheezing (for years my pulmonologists/doctors insisted that I give up my pets). this author has changed my life forever for the better. thank you, oh, and my doggie thanks you too!

An absolute read for anyone who cares about asthmatics., September 29, 1998
By A Customer
I have not felt this good in six years. I had my highest "peak-flow" reading this morning and this was without medication, the reading was way off the scale for my classification. I attribute this to the combination of Dr. Firshein's techniques and regular exercise(which I have been able to do because of the information in this book). My need of medication has reduced dramatically. Although, there are times when he waxes too "Newage" for my worldview, I highly recommend this book for the information on breathing techniques and diet,it is invaluable. It is a shame that my allergist and GP don't recommend these techniques. Hopefully we will see the medical community start to incorporate this information in their treatment of asthma. If you or someone you know has asthma they should examine this book.

a must read for chronic asthmatics, November 3, 1998
By A Customer
This book provides realistic, achievable strategies to improve your overall health, and ultimately your asthma by a doctor who has lived through some pretty severe attacks. Within days of applying a number of the suggestions, I was starting to feel better. A key focus is diet, ignored by many but essential to the well being of asthmatics. Highly recommended by a severe asthmatic who has battled this disease for 40 years!!
