Very helpful, but not perfect!, December 28, 2001

Used only this book to pass the clep exam. Gives you a pretty well-rounded idea of what to expect on the exam. Study it well and you'll pass!

Passed Freshman English CLEP, March 12, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Review for the CLEP General English Composition (Paperback)
I used this book only to CLEP Freshman English and passed with flying colors. The exam I took was computer-based and guessing doesn't count against you. Our CLEP administrator said that approx. 98% of the people who take the CLEP at my college pass. Give it a try, it's cheaper than spending money per credit hour not to mention time spent sitting in a classroom!

Not worth the money or studying time, February 19, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Review for the CLEP General English Composition (Paperback)
I spent a lot of time studying this manual, but when I took the test, it was nothing like this at all. The test contained nothing about sentence structure, but more about reading lengthy paragraphs and answering questions (very detailed questions) about the reading. I passed the test, but wish I could resell the book. I will probably donate it to the library.

Vocabulary isn't the only part of English Comp, August 28, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Review for the CLEP General English Composition (Paperback)
Too much space was spent on vocabulary and gramar useage (which most people who are going to CLEP out already have a good understanding of). I was hoping for more details on parts of speech and text book terms not commonly used in the real world. The majority of this book is focused upon the actual CLEP exams, not preparing for the subject matter. (several pages were spent explaining how to "cross out all the wrong answers" PLEASE.) I was disappointed in the prepartory nature of this book.
