4.0 out of 5 stars Good Review, but not useful alone
I read this book from cover to cover - twice - and did well on my second try of the practice exam. I felt pretty good about the knowledge I had learned. However, this did NOT prepare me for the CLEP Exam in Natural Sciences. The questions were much broader than what is covered in this book. 3.0 out of 5 stars Needs More
I took the CLEP using only this book as a study guide, figuring because I have a medical and biology background I would be fine. I passed, but I did not do as well as I thought I would, and there were a lot of questions on the exam that were not covered in the study guide. Also, all the Comex books need to be updated. They all present the test in it's old form. I...

I read this book from cover to cover - twice - and did well on my second try of the practice exam. I felt pretty good about the knowledge I had learned. However, this did NOT prepare me for the CLEP Exam in Natural Sciences. The questions were much broader than what is covered in this book. I suggest that this book definitely be used as a beginning to study for the exam, and then add other resource materials, including biology text books, chemistry, and physics. It will take much more than just this book to pass the exam.

4.0 out of 5 stars I passed the exam....barely, August 30, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Review For the CLEP Natural Science Examination (Paperback)
I have to give this book a high rating because I did pass using only this book... I got a 420 which is the ace recommened score. Also, I only studied about a week before I had to take the test. I'm not great at science, so I figured what the heck. If I don't pass, I'll just take some dantes tests. Fortunately, it worked out. If a high score is imporant, I would also buy the Princeton Review book also(It also might help to study more than a week) Princeton Review tells you EXACTLY what you need to study for.
Good Luck!

3.0 out of 5 stars Be Extremely Careful, January 5, 2002

I agree with the review of the person in San Jose, but the standards for passing my test were higher. I needed to score 500 or higher (they've also changed the way the test is scored, this would be equivalent to a 50 now). If that's the case for you, I highly recommend the Priceton review "Cracking the CLEP", and I'd also recommend you add a third review book. I sincerely feel that if I'd relied only on the Comex book, I would have failed the exam. Also, make use of the free guide available from CLEP. It has 50 test questions (much harder) that will give you a more accurate gauge of how you're doing. Until you can get at least 1/2 of those questions right, don't take the test!

1.0 out of 5 stars Dont buy this book!, July 12, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Review For the CLEP Natural Science Examination (Paperback)
This book is a joke. The practice tests include topics not even covered within the book. The illustrations are mediocre and largely irrelevant to the material. Did I mention this book hasn't been revised in years? It states theories that were disregarded years ago. I only wish I could get my money back.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not Quite Good Enough, October 26, 2002
This review is from: Review For the CLEP Natural Science Examination (Paperback)
I agree with other reviewers. I took the test, using this book alone, and missed passing by 1 point. There were several items not covered in the book that were on the test.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not an Easy Way Out, September 18, 2005
This review is from: Review For the CLEP Natural Science Examination (Paperback)
This book is designed to assist students in refreshing their memories about science. It gives good test taking tips, and it gave me an idea as to which other books I needed to read. I ended up checking out more books from the library including: biology, chemistry, and geology. My science knowledge was not that strong when I started studying for the test, but I passed the test after studying the subject for 3 months. In short, this book is NOT a quick fix to passing the science clep. I gave it 3 stars because it did point me in the right direction. Good Luck!

2.0 out of 5 stars Not enough information, July 11, 2005
This review is from: Review For the CLEP Natural Science Examination (Paperback)
The information covered in the review book is not sufficient. This guide focuses on some areas that are not covered in the exam. The exam has areas that are not covered in this book. The book has a lot of information, but not enough to sufficiently study for the Natural Science CLEP exam.

2.0 out of 5 stars Need more than just this book, December 22, 2005
This review is from: Review For the CLEP Natural Science Examination (Paperback)
I studied from this book as well as the CLEP General Exam book for 4 weeks and still did not pass the test. Now I must wait 6 mths before retaking this subject, and I am now looking for another book to further educate me material that was in the actual clep test. The information covered in the review book is not sufficient. This guide focuses on some areas that are not covered in the exam. The exam has areas that are not covered in this book. The book has a lot of information, but not enough to sufficiently study for the Natural Science CLEP exam.
