This book is an excellent study source for the CLEP Geeneral Math test, but it only seemed to cover about 85% of the test. The actual test was not very difficult, provided you know the rules of radicals, exponents, logic, complex numbers, logs and sets in exact detail, and this book does a good job of laying all those out. You will, however, probably need some more advanced practice problems since the book only gives a few for each subject. (Try [...] to fill in the blanks.) Also, you will need to know histograms which this text doesn't cover at all. I would have given a four star rating, but there were several obvious mistakes in the book's practice problems.

i used this book and it guided me through the steps i needed. i also used a decrepit "general clep study guide" book, whew....it's from '85 or something. but both covered everything given on the outline. i scored a 570!!!! definitely recommend!! oh, and know probability, it's everywhere on the test. and although listed on the outline, there were no binary numbers.

I have been out of Math classes for quite sometime. The only thing standing between me and my BS Degree was the Clep College Mathematics test. I bought this book and I was very thankful I did. Not only did it cover all the areas on my test, it gave me practice problems with answers and explanation of how they got to that answer. It was a very helpful book and I highly recommend it. Use this book combined with the Online Clep practice tests and you should have no problem passing the test.

While I appreciate the comprehensive coverage of the materials, I find that errors in examples, answers and explanations have no place in a book that purports to prepare one for a college level examination. I have yet to finish reading the book and have found several examples of poor editing, or typographical errors. The coverage, while certainly not in depth, should be adequate to prepare you to pass the examination, if you are already familiar with the material.

I suck at math. It may be a fear or genuine problem, I don't know.

I got this study guide so I could get the 6 math credits I needed to graduate college.

I read and studied everything in this book cover to cover 3 times and I took every test in this book 3 times as well. I used this book as sole preparation for my CLEP test. I beat this book to death and probably spent 30 hours reading or testing myself. I couldn't afford to fail since I had to get the 6 credits and my other options were algebra or business math... which were likely just as difficult.

I passed the CLEP test with flying colors. Much room to spare. To be honest, HARDLY ANY of the questions matched what I read, in fact, they were INCREDIBLY different and I was scared... but this book gave me the basic logic I needed to solve the problems.

Get the book, read it and study it exhaustively and you'll pass. Get the book, spend a couple hours on it, and you'll fail... unless you already know all kinds of math.

I just passed my College Mathematics CLEP test and I owe it all to this study guide. I'm not kidding; at this point I feel like composing epic love poetry to the greatness that is the Review for the CLEP General Mathematics Examination!

I originally bought the official study guide from the CLEP organization, but that was useless other than to show me just how lacking my math skills were. It was essentially a practice test with no instructional material. This guide, however, shows you exactly how to solve each kind of problem in a straightforward manner. It doesn't just show you the right answers; it tells you why they are the right answers and shows you how to get there.

I spent roughly 2 hours each weeknight studying this guide, and my college mathematics skills went from almost nonexistent to CLEP-worthy in about a month. Without this guide, I would have had to waste a lot more time and money attending classes. With it (and some serious studying), I was able to knock out 6 credits in one shot.

Unless you're coming straight out of high school and excelled in algebra, this study guide is a must-have for preparing for the College Mathematics CLEP test. You'll probably never use your newfound mathematics knowledge ever again, but I suppose that's beside the point!

NOTE: I would have given this guide a 5-star rating, but there was one area of the CLEP test that it completely overlooked. It made no mention of basic geometry, and there were a handful of questions on the test that required knowledge of geometric formulas.

Overall this book really helped me study for the exam quickly. It was organized well and taught each subject in a short and simple way. There were plenty of examples and I loved the practice problems at the end of each chapter. It was missing a few topics however such as range, the symbols ( and [ in relation to a number line, and histograms. Also, it could use a fuller glossary and needs an index at the end. Overall it was a huge help and I would highly recommend it. It took my exam yesterday and passed and only used this book as my primary study aid.

This book teaches a lot of concepts very well, but you may need some more learning (as I did) to fully cover yourself for the CLEP test. I took an online course to supplement.
