5.0 out of 5 stars All You Need to Pass Principles of Management
First, I can say with 100% certainty that this book is suffcient on it's own to pass the CLEP subject exam Principles of Management. The book was my sole source of study material and I passed in the 80th percentile. I have never taken a business or management course before.

2.0 out of 5 stars I'm going against the crowd here!
I used this book for preparation on the CLEP test. In addition to this book I listened to an OLD 6 part audio book series with an overview of the MBA cirriculum. I LITERALLY read this book SIX times, YES SIX, to be sure that I would pass the test. I passed but not by flying colors! This book is OK, but I would STRONGLY recommend supplementing it with additional material...

5.0 out of 5 stars All You Need to Pass Principles of Management, October 12, 2002

First, I can say with 100% certainty that this book is suffcient on it's own to pass the CLEP subject exam Principles of Management. The book was my sole source of study material and I passed in the 80th percentile. I have never taken a business or management course before.

This book has been distilled down to contain only the information you need to know - there is absolutely no filler material. The entire book is 111 pages. Out of that, 85 pages are devoted to subject material and chapter tests and the remaining pages have two review tests. After the end of each chapter, there is a summary page listing important people and what they are noted for and a list of key words, phrases & abbreviations.

The practice tests are helpful. The answers contain explanations and although they are not nearly as comprehensive as the REA books, they are suffcient.

One last word...when I took the CLEP test, there were several questions pertaining to people and what theories they developed. They were in the book and I studied them, but would have probably gotten a few more answers correct if I had really concentrated on knowing it.

This is an excellent study guide for preparing for the CLEP exam Principles of Management.

5.0 out of 5 stars If only more CLEP study guides were like this one..., July 31, 2000
By A Customer
I studied this book and this book only for the CLEP Principles of Management Exam. I took the test about 3 weeks ago and received my score in the mail today. I scored a 70, putting me in the 99th percentile. The format is among the best I've seen for study guides. I don't believe I've ever learned as much in only 86 pages of text and review. I'm looking forward to the author's future works of this genre.

4.0 out of 5 stars Short and Sweet, January 1, 2000
By A Customer
This CLEP review is great especially if you're pressed for time. There are only six chapters-short, sweet and to the point. I'm a full-time student and work part-time, but I was able to read the book and take notes over Thanksgiving break and still scored in the 97 percentile! Everything you need to pass the test with flying colors is in this book. The information is broken down in a straightforward and logical manner and it's easy to understand. Plus, this book is much cheaper than some of the other books out there on the subject.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Study Guide!!, December 1, 2000
By A Customer
This book was excellent.I only needed a raw score of 46 and I scored a 62.This was the only book I studied.I don't even have a business background. My degree is in engineering. This book is definitely a must buy.I was a little skeptical but don't be.There were a few questions the book didn't cover but just skip those. You aren't penalized for an unanswered question.Buy the book if you intend on taking this particular CLEP exam!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Needs an update, but still wirth the money, June 29, 2002
By A Customer
6/29/02 I needed Principles of Management for a prerequisite to get into an MBA program. Took the test 3 days ago. Several questions on the test, especially relating to people who'd developed theories, were never covered in the study guide. I think they probably need to release a revised edition. The study guide still describes the test as a #2 pencil, color-the-ballons test. Today it's on computer. I liked the short, direct-to-the-point format of the book. I read it once, working all the problems as I read. Then I read it all again and reviewed the questions before taking the test. I was told that scores range from 20-80. Mine was 78. I don't see why anyone would take a college course when they could buy this study guide, spend 8-10 hours studying, and then pass the CLEP.

I passed this exam today with a 73/80. I used only this book to prepare and spent about 4 hours reading it. I didn't bother with the practice tests. I used REA for all the other exams but this book is just so nice and short and it covers all the material, while the REA book for this exam is quite long-winded. This book is perfect!

$16.95 for the book, $30 to the test site, $50 to CLEP, 64 for a Final Score. It would have been higher had I not been studying for 3 other classes. You can also use the staffing(Human Resource Management) and controlling(Production/Operation Management) to review for other test. Very valuable!More than anything, this book saved me Time, something you can never get back. Your time and money will not be wasted.
