As a college student taking the avenue of CLEP as a means to acquire credits, I have come to rely on study guides as a means to prepare and quiz myself for the respective examinations. This was the first study guide I purchased from COMEX, and I highly recommend it. I especially like how the author broke the materials down into workable/learnable components. Each section also has a very valuable test section to cover the items addressed. The last section of the book also has a couple full length practice exams - with answers and explanations. When I first ventured to take the Social Science exam, I thought for sure it would be a difficult pass. By the time I finished using the guide I knew I was fully prepared.

After studying for the social science exam using ONLY this book I set out and took the exam. I left feeling totally unprepared and convinced that I had failed. I made a 510, so I can't down the book too much, however I do not feel that I was well prepared. Thank you for your time. Have a nice day.

Don't put all your eggs in this basket,

This book has about 20% of the exam included. All subject areas covered in the book will appear on the test, but the book may only have a bold faced reference and no other information. I would NOT recommend using this book as your sole study source. I passed the test on the first try (had to make a 500 for full credit even though the ACE score is 420), but I wouldn't credit this book. If you use it as a sole source, you'll be sorry, if you use it in conjuction with other study material, you should pass.
