As a college student taking the avenue of CLEP as a means to acquire credits, I have come to rely on study guides as a means to prepare and quiz myself for the respective examinations. This was the first study guide I purchased from COMEX, and I highly recommend it. I especially like how the author broke the materials down into workable/learnable components. Each section also has a very valuable test section to cover the items addressed. The last section of the book also has a couple full length practice exams - with answers and explanations. When I first ventured to take the Social Science exam, I thought for sure it would be a difficult pass. By the time I finished using the guide I knew I was fully prepared.

After studying for the social science exam using ONLY this book I set out and took the exam. I left feeling totally unprepared and convinced that I had failed. I made a 510, so I can't down the book too much, however I do not feel that I was well prepared. Thank you for your time. Have a nice day.

This book has about 20% of the exam included. All subject areas covered in the book will appear on the test, but the book may only have a bold faced reference and no other information. I would NOT recommend using this book as your sole study source. I passed the test on the first try (had to make a 500 for full credit even though the ACE score is 420), but I wouldn't credit this book. If you use it as a sole source, you'll be sorry, if you use it in conjuction with other study material, you should pass.

Another interesting book from Comex. This one covers only a small part of the material you will need to know to pass the test. I think it is good but insufficient for the Clep.

I just took the Social Science Clep Examination. The book was not helpful at all. First of all the material in the book is not current. The tests are computerized. There were not any tips or imformation on the computerized types of CLEP tests. Though there is alot of information in the book, I did not find any of it relevant at all to the exam. The book itself was made really well. I used it daily for about a month and it is in perfect condition.

Passed the clep exam with a 510 using only this book. There are plenty of items on the test not covered in the book, so be careful!

I used this book but still managed to fail the exam.
