When I was studying for my CNOR (Certified Nurse in the Operating Room) exam in 2004, I had a coworker give me recommendations of study material for the CNOR. On the list was this book. To this day I recommend this study guide to all my coworkers who are planning to take the CNOR exam. I liked how the book was broken down into sections and I could study all the key areas that are important to the operating room nurse's practice. The questions are pertinent and answers were given with rationales which helped me understand the concepts especially when I got a questions wrong.I do agree with the other reviewers in that you can not use this as a stand alone study guide. Since one needs to have over two years experience to even sit for the exam, I would use the knowledge that you gain in your practice as an operating room nurse as the foundation. Other resources that I recommend are perioperative nursing text books, AORN (Association of Perioperative Nurses) Standards and Journals, AORN networking with other colleagues, relationships with experienced OR nurses, and study groups with coworkers/friends who are taking the exam. At the time I took the exam, the AORN study guide and disk were not helpful to me and didn't give any rationale to their answers. It may have changed since then but I am have not seen the recent study guides to say for sure. Good luck to my fellow operating room colleagues taking the CNOR exam. Your patients thank you for excelling in your chosen profession. They are lucky to have you as a caring, compassionate, competent, and certified nursing professional taking care of them during their surgical procedure.

I used this book to study for the CNOR. I passed in December! I thought the questions were a good review for me. Helped me target my weak areas. There are good answers and rationale for each question. You should not use this as your sole study aid if your taking the CNOR.

This book is an excellent source of information and a great way to help study for the CNOR exam. It shouldn't be used alone however but as an adjunct to other material.
