Book Description

March 1, 2011
From beyond the grave, comes a book so amazing you shouldn't be caught dead without it! Featuring in-depth insight, trivia, statistics, commentary, and analysis on over 25 of the best zombie movies of all time, Reviews of the Dead is the ultimate guide to your favorite zombie films. Covering genre staples like the films of George Romero and Lucio Fulci, to more modern classics like Shaun of the Dead, Zombieland, and Planet Terror, this book is bursting at the seams with enough content and information to entertain even the most die-hard undead fans, as well as serving as a fantastic starting point for those new to the zombie genre. Tony Schaab (creator of The G.O.R.E. Score) brings his signature style of informative, witty, and conversational writing to every entry in this book, and Anthony Giangregorio (creator of the zombie/action series Deadwater) adds his thoughts and personal experiences with each film, as well. Together, these two authors have created the new must-have companion guide to classic zombie cinema-a book that every zombie lover can really sink their teeth into!

Big fan March 22, 2011
Format:Paperback
I am a big fan of Tony Schaab's reviews, having purchased "G.O.R.E Score Volume 1" and frequenting The G.O.R.E Score website as well and I like how he writes them. "Reviews of the Dead: 25 Zombie Movies to Die For" does not follow the scoring that the previously mentioned mediums do, but they do play to his indepth knowledge and research that he conducts for each film. I'm new to Anthony Giangregorio's reviews but found them pretty complimentary, bringing his own good sense of style to them, as each of the movies are reviewed by both men.

I have seen a good share of the movies listed but am encouraged by some of the reviews and will be checking out "Slither" and "Stacy" as a result of the reviews. One minor complaint was the use of the pictures within the book. I always like the idea of seeing the cover-or photo's from the movie or book being presented, so I know what I'm looking for if it's new to me. Also, it's nice not to see only a great "wall of text". But some of the DVD cover photo's in the book didn't compliment the book as well as they looked a bit blurred in their black/white/grey versions. The effect wasn't as "pretty" as I think they were intended to be.

Beyond that, this is a book that a zombie film enthusiast will enjoy, especially if you've been following Tony and Anthony's works along their career's. Check it out :)
