I received my first copy of the Revised English Bible from a fellow minister for whom I had done some translation work on one of his books. It didn't take long before the REB became not only my personal devotional Bible but also my preferred pulpit Bible as well. Since that time I have recommended it to countless friends, taken it to Bible conferences for exposure and given it as gifts. Many have commented on its accuracy, clarity and readability, and dozens have made the REB their Bible of choice.

There is a clarity about the REB that brings an accurate understanding of some of the more difficult and obscure passages of the Bible. I experienced breakthrough after breakthrough in my understanding of many subtle passages of Scripture - and that after 20 years of preaching. Of special note is the poetry of the Bible. Poetry is in fact poetry in the REB and at times the reading of certain verses has literally captivated congregations setting the stage for good preaching.

The REB incorporates the most recent texts from the Dead Sea Scrolls which makes it one of the most, if not the most, relevant and accurate translations around.

I have been reading it for over five years and I have yet to find another version of Scripture that in any way rivals it.
