5.0 out of 5 stars Elementary Teacher Prizes This Book!
_The_Clear_and_Simple_Thesaurus_Dictionary is the most practical thesaurus I have found for use with my fourth- and fifth-grade students. Unlike many thesauruses, it is formatted in a style that students (and adults!) will find familiar and easy to use. While not as comprehensive in scope as those designed for college use, this thesaurus allows students the satisfaction...

3.0 out of 5 stars A dissapointment
This book has, unfortunately, been a disappointment for me. From reading the reviews written by others, I had high hopes for it, but it has not lived up to them in my family's particular experience. I bought this dictionary specifically for my son (age 12) to use, but literally every time he has tried to use it to look up a word he needs, it happens to be a word that...

_The_Clear_and_Simple_Thesaurus_Dictionary is the most practical thesaurus I have found for use with my fourth- and fifth-grade students. Unlike many thesauruses, it is formatted in a style that students (and adults!) will find familiar and easy to use. While not as comprehensive in scope as those designed for college use, this thesaurus allows students the satisfaction of finding synonyms or associated words for almost any word they might need. I had not found this to be true of other "beginning" thesauruses, which was a frustration to both my students and to me. This gem was a major find, and is now in regular use in my classroom. I highly recommend it to any teacher of intermediate or junior high age students, as well as to parents who want a truly helpful resource for their school-age children.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just what I needed, April 4, 2003
A Kid's Review
This review is from: The Revised clear and Simple Thesaurus Dictionary (Paperback)
I could not expect anything more from a thesauras. This has all the words I, through my preteen years, have needed, without boggling my mind with lots of words that I never try to use. I don't feel overwhelmed, but I DO find the information I need.

This book has, unfortunately, been a disappointment for me. From reading the reviews written by others, I had high hopes for it, but it has not lived up to them in my family's particular experience. I bought this dictionary specifically for my son (age 12) to use, but literally every time he has tried to use it to look up a word he needs, it happens to be a word that has not been included. Just our dumb luck, I guess, but it seems this book is better suited to those in grades 1-4 and probably not beyond that.

After looking through many thesaurus (for children and adults) to find a good one for my first grader, I chose this one. It is easy to use. Print is not too little. The only thing that I am not crazy about is the size of the book, a little too big, but nothing too bad. Overall I think it is the best choice for an elementary school student who loves to write!

4.0 out of 5 stars Scholastic Dictionary of Synonyma, Antonyms, and Homonyms, February 12, 2007
This book is a valuable resource for students in upper elementary and lower middle school grades. Great for homework help and vocabulary building if used on a continual basis.

5.0 out of 5 stars How can I describe this Thesaurus, August 28, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: The Revised clear and Simple Thesaurus Dictionary (Paperback)
This thesaurus is:
Fantastic
Excellent
High Quality
Stupendous
Superiour
and least, but not last, very good!

All joking aside, it's a thesaurus. It's a good value and as good as any other thesaurus.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for my 4th Grader, October 16, 2011
By

My fourth grader was frustrated and overwhelmed with a "regular" dictionary. This one is perfect for his needs, easy for a child to read and find words and has made homework much easier for him.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Clear and Simple Thesaurus Dictionay Revised Fully Updated, November 2, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)

I am a teacher and when I reviewed the above book. I knew I would use it in a classroom. I bought 5 copies for my nieces and nephews to use during their ELA classes. Creative writing is fun. However on any standarized state test especially the writing section one needs to know the parts of speech, synonyms, and antonyms so their essay will be interesting.

This was ordered before I found the Writer's Thesaurus. Both are wonderful books, This particular book would be well used by a beginning student or home school.
O kept it anyway, I hate to return anything!
Price was refreshing, but Amazon's books are always refreshing.

5.0 out of 5 stars Different than expected, but still happy, January 7, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I thought this book was for a little bit younger child, but I was plesantly suprised when it arrived! It's perfect for our 8 year old all the way to the grown-ups in the family. Our 8 yr old likes it because it looks like a "real" dictionary/thesaurus, but is easy to use. He's just learning how to use a real dictionary, so this was a great buy.
