Editorial Reviews

About the Artist

DJ Cam is one of the bedrock artists of the electronic genre, known not only for his remix work, but also for his eclectic productions of hip-hop, chill out, and jazz. His first release, 1994’s Underground Vibes was followed by Underground Live (1996), Substances (1996), DJ Kicks (1997), The Beat Assassinated (1998), The Loa Project Vol.1/Vol. 2 (2000), and Soulshine (2002).

His hit remixes include everything from Nas ("Made You Look"), Cypress Hill ("Highlife"), Macy Gray ("Do Something"), Malia ("Let It Happen") and Michael Jackson ("Rock My World").

Product Description

The best tracks from the man who has remixed Nas, Cypress Hill, Macy Gray, Miles Davis, and Michael Jackson, amongst others.

This collection compiles, for the first time ever on CD, the best of DJ Cam’s tracks as remixed by some of the other top artists in the genre, including Thievery Corporation, Kid Loco, Kenny Dope, Bob Sinclar, DJ Premier and many more.

5.0 out of 5 stars Not just okay...Pretty damn good!, April 10, 2006

I have to disagree with the above reviewer...I think the album is great. For starters, if you haven't heard the original version of the songs on 'Revisted', i suggest you check em out. Great songs, as is most of Cam's work. Secondly, the remixers selected for the album are all top notch. DJ Premier, Kid Loco, Theivery Corporation, etc...all cream of the crop...so what do you get when you put it all together...a pretty damn good album. It may not be as exciting as an album of fresh new tracks...but still a worthwhile collection...especially for Cam fans.

4.0 out of 5 stars DJ Cam - Revisited By, March 4, 2011
This review is from: Revisited By (Audio CD)
DJ Cam's album, REVISITED BY, gives a remix overview of his oeuvre thus far, except, curiously, for his first album, which many would argue is his best (not me, though; I'm a fan of INNERVISIONS). Even more oddly, tracks from his weakest album, THE BEAT ASSASSINATED, take up a good amount of space. "Success," remixed by Kenny Dope (straight-up hip-hop), Thievery Corporation (outernationalism) and Attica Blues (hip-hop funk), reflects more of the remixer than the original. Kid Loco goes stoned and mellow -- no surprise there! -- on the soul ballad "He's Gone," while DJ Vadim goes minimalistic on his hip-hop take of "Innervisions." Elsewhere, Flytronix gives "Innervisions" a drum 'n' bass rhythm that suddenly goes jazzy. Bob Sinclar, however, makes an unfortunate misstep on "Espionage," as is the additional rap on J Dilla's revision of "Love Junkee." But Demon steps in to claim the funky house crown with his take on "DJ Cam Sound System." And "Meera," a gorgeous track, goes down a dark, dark road with Extra Lucid at the helm, whereas 4 Hero/Tek 9 go smooth and downtempo. A collection as rich and interesting as DJ Cam's career itself.

3.0 out of 5 stars It's Okay., March 17, 2006
This review is from: Revisited By (Audio CD)
i can't believe the name of lable that released this album is called "Recall". what a name. This CD is alriiiight....i don't think you should expect too much out of this. Voodoo Child was nothing new, just like the one on Soulshine. as a matter of fact, i never heard of voodoo child in Dj Cam's original version. Overall, if you are a fan of DJ Cam, it's worth it. but i must admit that i was disappointed a little. not his fault, since its remixes done by others.
But there are some phat remixes done by J Dilla, Kid Loco...
