Editorial Reviews

Two CD compilation from the German Electronic/Prog Rock outfit. Revisited & Remixed contains a selection of Electronica and Werner Herzog soundtrack recordings together with 10 Ambient, Downtempo and Club remixes. Side A contains original Popol Vuh tracks, highlighting their Ambient- and Electronica oeuvre, including 1970's Moog III Synthesizer tracks and selected soundtracks of Werner Herzog's movie-classics Aguirre, Nosferatu and Cobra Verde, Side B introduces their music to a younger audience: It includes tribute remixes by Vienna's Peter Kruder (Kruder & Dorfmeister), Electronic combos Mouse On Mars and Stereolab, Dub experts A Critical Mass, Moritz von Oswald, Thomas Fehlmann (The Orb), deep housed Roland Appel and Alex Bark (Jazzanova), and minimal specialists Mika Vainio (Pan Sonic) and Haswell/Hecker.

Most Helpful Customer Reviews

4 of 5 people found the following review helpful By Pluto on November 9, 2013
Format: Audio CD
This project is simply irrelevant ... The first CD is a compilation of original songs which are absolutely NOT representative of the range of sounds created by Popol Vuh. For example, on 12 songs, 3 (!!!) have been selected from the first album Affenstunde, 2 from Cobra Verde and 2 from Nosferatu... Where are Hosianna Mantra, Das Hohelied Salomos or Sei still, Wisse ich bin ?

The second CD is a collection of remixed songs mostly unrecognizable like the atrocious «Peter Kruder mix» of Lacrima di Rei. Only three of these are enjoyable and bring the original songs in a new direction without destroying them : numbers 3, 4 and 5.

This is not a tribute but a destruction !
