so damn fun 2 listen 2 10 years (! ) down the road. u come back listening 2 this because u wonder what r&b is supposed 2 sound like, and u know u ain't gettin it from the artists of 2day. some of the beats are still so fresh and should be practiced by drummers lookin 4 that dead-on yet slippery as a fish funk beat. good 2 kick back 2 w/a smile on your face. this groove is so hard it'll make your feet start kickin and if it don't then get the cement offa them!

Bought the CD used. Received the CD in excellent condition (virtually no scratches on the disc). Took less time than expected to receive the disc as well. Brings back great memories playing it back. If your a Tony Toni Tone fan its a must-have of course, but even if your not and you enjoy 90s hip-hop/R&B it will be a much needed add-in to your collection. There were so many great artists in the 90s that some are forgotten overtime, but "The Revival" will have you gasping for air as you come back to consciousness from the long comatose state you've just endured for the past 10 or so years. Though, in my opinion, it may not be the best Tony Toni Tone album (Sons of Soul), but it's definitely light-years ahead of all the 'typical' hip-hop/R&B music out today (if there's still such a thing).

This album is a blast! The songs leave a lasting impression on you and you want to sing along. Rafael Saddiq at his best!

"The Revival" was the first TTT album I ever owned (I have all 4 now), and although this is not their best album (that would be a tie between "Sons Of Soul" and "House of Music"), this album had probably more memorable radio singles than any other album they made. "Feels Good", "The Blues", "It Never Rains in Southern California", and my personal favorite song by the Tonyies, "Whatever You Want" were all over the radio back in 1990. Although I love Raphael Saadiq solo, I would love to see the Tonyies come back together, if not for an album, at least for a tour. It's time for another "Revival". Anyway, back to the album. The only reason that I think that this is a notch below the aforementioned albums (aside from the difference musically) is that all of the singles are on the first half of the CD (Side one from the cassette), whereas the other two albums had the hits evenly spread out. Buy "The Revival", you will not be disappointed.

Tony! Toni! Tone! Is a legendary group breaking group. The fusion of styles that pervade this album is what makes them memorable. They were able to work with other people and never lose their own groove. "It Never Rains in Southern California" is the type of ageless groove that will never go out of style.

Admittedly, I didn't know much about Tony, Toni, Tone until this album. I was once listening to an R & B radio station out of Greensboro, NC in 1990 and let me tell you, when I first heard "It Feels Good", I was hooked on them forever!
As for the album, it was one of their early albums and while not perfect, it had a lot of the sound that we would come to know in later years with stuff like "The Blues", "Oakland Stroke" with Vanessa Williams (yes THAT Vanessa Williams that used to be married to basketball star Rick Fox) and "The Sky." It produced two legendary slow jams in "It Never Rains (In Southern California)" and "Whatever You Want." It also has a fun track called "Those Were The Days" which is quite relevant today. While not meant to be a statement song, it almost could be with the way things are now in the world! Anyway, it isn't quite a five star but its no worse than a three star CD. I am personally giving it a four. My personal recommendation is get all their original CD's to get the fullness of this timeless group!

What these guys did in such a short span for R&B lovers hopfully will not be lost to history. Compared to the lackluster, whimpy, whiney, non-dancable, non-singing crap that they try to call Neo-soul today, these guys were a blast of fresh air....
This is the continuing saga....

Flexing Tonies.,

The "Revival" is the album which the 'Tonies began to show off their artistic chops and completely broke-out, with an amazing four #1 hits (The Blues, Feels Good, Whatever You Want and It Never Rains in So Cal, resulting in undeniable success. It was with this release everyone back in '90 said, "damn, these boys can play...and their funky too!" So funky til you have a fresh Vanessa Williams singing on "Oakland Stroke", along with the 3Ts. In addition to the super hit jamz on this album, the slow jams (It Never Rains in Southern California;Whatever You Want; I Care; All My Love)were some of the best that year and are now 3Ts classics. Some of the tunes such as "All the Way" and "Sky's the Limit" may sound a bit dated now, but this was surely one of the best albums of 1990, and should now be considered a major gem in your R&B catalog.

Even in its "infancy", the trio was better than most!,

TTT's sophomore album was the stuff of which legends were made: innovative, funky, soulful, and reflective. Like other reviewers have stated, their later work was better, but this earlier release stands as one of the strongest "second helpings" in R & B history.
