5.0 out of 5 stars this is the best
I've tried the Sephora--the Revlon beats it, hands down. The thing that is wrong with this REVLON is its INSTRUCTIONS!!!

2.0 out of 5 stars New design no improvement
I was glad to finally find the Revlon Blackhead remover again. I had used it back in the 90's when it was available in retail stores. The old design had a funnel shape and was excellent at removing blackheads. The new design is too flat to remove anything. It causes swelling and doesn't make the blackhead pop out, or even rise to the surface. I am disappointed that...

I've tried the Sephora--the Revlon beats it, hands down. The thing that is wrong with this REVLON is its INSTRUCTIONS!!!

The instructions state that you should center your blackhead in the small hole at either end, then push down. If you do that, it just doesn't work. But, if you put the smooth edge of the end NEXT to the blackhead and push inwards towards the blackhead--sort of like a scooping action--it is amazingly effective, and a lot less painful than the Sephora. I handed one of these to my dermatologist, who was using a Sephora-like torture device. She was amazed at how much more effective this one was.

This baby has very smooth edges on both ends, making it almost painless on most blackheads. I have actually fallen asleep while having blackheads removed with the Revlon (and I've had plenty, sorry to say!). It will even dig out those dried out, persistent ones, which I get on my upper neck. Never has a blackhead escaped my ire with this tool--it will, with persistence, get the worst of the worst! Just remember--scooping action, forget the hole!

Ignore the instructions. Push from the side after a hot shower. This is the one.

4.0 out of 5 stars Revlon magic, June 14, 2009
This review is from: Revlon Blackhead Remover (Pack of 2) (Health and Beauty)
My old room mate had this comodone extracor. we were both going through school to become esthetician's at the time so we tried any skin devices we could get our hands on.
well, to make a long story short after YEARS - literally- of closed comodones (the type of congestion that "brews" under the skin - usually suffered by people who have small pores)this tool pushed them out effortlessly, no skin ripping, just beautiful skin!
I used it like the instructions specified - apply the hole over the blemish & push, but depending on your type of congestion you may have to modify it a bit.
Hey, take a chance, it's only $8!!!

So if you suffer from "closed" comodones *when congestion get's trapped under the skin vs. blackhead or standard comodone aka when the congetion builds under the skin & stretches a pore you NEED this tool!

I wish I'd had this baby a long time ago. It works great and does no damage to the skin. The Sephora is overpriced and doesn't work nearly as well.

Just be patient. Wash your face gently. Then place a warm washcloth over the blemish for five to ten minutes. If a head becomes visible, the Revlon will get the entire plug out of the pore. (You may choose to use a needle to nick the head before you use the Revlon.)

Never use your fingers again!

I've had one of these in my ditty bag for well over 15 years & have allways been pleased with it. Then it mysteriously disappeared. Probably one of the joys of having children... I checked all the drug & grocery stores & could not find a replacement, but Amazon had it. It looks & works just like the old one, great!
My technique has allways been to center the blackhead or pimple or pussy mosquito bite under the smallest hole that seems appropriate & apply massive pressure untill stuff pops thru the hole. Then if there's blood, put a dab of neosporin on it.

5.0 out of 5 stars It works for me., September 30, 2008

I just go this blackhead remover from Amazon. It's an old Revlon design. I like it a lot. No bruising, no bleeding and it did what it should. I have some sensitive skin and If I would try to do the same thing "manually" I would be stuck with a huge red mark for a week. I tried to press carefully and rotate sides, trying larger and smaller holes to seek which one would work better. Looks like sometimes I needed to use both. Don't know how well it would work on the nose, but it worked well on chin and cheek. Have to make sure that the backhead is "ripe" and ready to go, thought.

I have used revlon's blackhead remover for years and it's the only thing that has worked for me. My face doesn't turn red so I think maybe some of you are pressing too hard.

2.0 out of 5 stars Leaves red circles, January 21, 2011

This blackhead remover works well on pores in hard to reach places, like the crease of your nose, but I couldn't get it to work anywhere else. All it did was leave red circles on my cheeks and nose. I still use it for those hard to reach pores around my nose, but it doesn't work for open or fleshy areas.

I've used this little gadget for many years now and my toddler recently "misplaced" the one I had. After searching several retail stores, I couldn't find the exact model, so I ended up trying the newer Revlon blackhead remover with the loops. What a disaster! It was very ineffective, ripped my skin, etc. I was so happy to find my trusty stand-by online, and you can't beat the price for a pack of 2.
