Ok, let me start off by saying that I have awful skin! I am 25 with very sensitive skin, in the sense that the smallest bump would leave a scar. I have superficial deep scars and also red marks from past zits. I also have a lot of redness on my fair skin. I have tried every type of makeup possible, including the "great" mineral makeup. Mineral makeup would just make my scars more noticeable. I recently tried Make Up Forever's HD makeup and it was expensive. I was hoping for it to work, but sadly it didnt work any better than any drugstore makeup. At the request of a friend, I decided to try this Revlon makeup. I didnt think it would really be that good, but at 12.00 a bottle, I didnt think it would hurt. Boy, was I surprised! It has GREAT coverage! It doesnt take a whole lot, and it looks so natural like you are not wearing makeup. Sure, it doesnt cover the scars completely, but let me tell you that you will not get a better coverage from any other makeup. I even tried Dermablend that was made just for scars. It didnt even do as well!

I've tried quite a bit of foundations and was very excited when Revlon introduced their PhotoReady line. I've used Revlon in the past because they offer oil-free makeup. This is especially important to me because I have combination skin and I have a tendency to breakout unless I keep the oils under control. But, on the other hand, my face also gets dry areas (around my nose and mouth). Typically this isn't a problem. Products like Neutrogena SkinClearing Liquid Makeup, keep my oily face under control without drying out my face. Which is the exact opposite of what the PhotoReady foundation did. It went on smooth but as it set you could see visible dry areas and uneven skin tones. Even when I washed, lotioned and primed my face before application the PhotoReady seemed to attach itself creating/emphasizing my dry skin. Almost as if it was absorbing the oils. Which is great if you wanted a matte look, but, the product is much too strong and my skin looked flaky and cracked from dryness!

I have seen this same product on another person and it looked great on her. But, her skin type is different than mine. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone with combination skin. Especially with the dry winter coming up. I did, however, like the PhotoReady translucent powder. It works well as a finishing veil and is relatively inexpensive.

To start off, I'll describe what kind of skin I have--I'm in my early twenties, I'm pretty pale, with neutral to slightly yellow undertones, but somehow I have red cheeks and get red really easily. It's also, I believe, combination skin--it's dry in certain areas (such as my nose & mouth area) and more oily around my forehead and near my hairline.

I've always had a hard time finding a foundation color that actually matched my skin--being able to hide my redness without making my skin look sallow--but Revlon PhotoReady in 002 Vanilla is almost perfect. It makes my skin very even and I'd say it has medium to full coverage depending on the application. I don't typically use a powder over it.

I've had no issues with this product breaking me out, and I do break out really easily. I also have had no issues with making my skin either too dry or too oily. I do wear a moisturizer underneath--L'Oreal Future-e (which I have also reviewed on Amazon). Throughout the day, I feel like this foundation somewhat sinks into my skin (in a good way) to make it look even better by the end of the day. I've even slept with this foundation (not a good idea, I know) but still--no breakouts and my skin in the morning looks so pretty (unfortunately I wash it off at that point and start all over again haha).

Some people have had issues with this foundation being too sparkly. I'll be honest--there are sparkles (verrrry teeny though) in the Vanilla color, but I've never had anybody comment on it, and it's only in direct sunlight when it's even somewhat obvious. If this product had no discernible sparkles, it would probably be perfect (although, maybe it's the reason it makes photos look great?).

My personal all-time favorite foundation is Revlon Skinlights however it has been discontinued so I decided to give this a try. And I am VERY happy with the results. I'm kind of a perfectionist when it comes to my make-up and very picky with what I'll actually leave on my face. I DO NOT like the heavy foundation feeling on my skin but do sometimes need some coverage around that certain time of the month. I too have combination skin. Oily around my t-zone and dry on my cheeks, forehead, and eyebrow area. But I've found that if I use a dab of good old ponds original dry skin cream on these areas it really evens things out. Then I apply Revlon beyond natural smoothing primer. A very thin coat goes a long, long way and it makes you skin feel like silk. After that I use a foundation brush, I like eco tools foundation brush it holds up very well, cleans nicly, and applies beautifully. Anyway, I then apply a thin layer of the photo ready foundation starting in my t-zone working my way outward to avoid lines and uneven application. The eco-tools foundation brush really works well for blending your foundation too. After that I use a fan brush and lightly buff my entire face. This helps evenly distribute the foundation and buffs it into your skin. Then I set it with a light dusting of loose powder. And there you have it. When you're done it will look and FEEL light and natural with amazing coverage. And it looks fresh all day. If you have combination skin like me try a dab of ponds on the dry areas and try the beyond natural smoothing primer. It almost puts a barrier between the foundation and your face locking in moisture. Made all the difference in the world for me. Good luck!
