5.0 out of 5 stars Great INTERNATIONAL travel dryer--has 110-220V switch!!
I was looking for a compact travel dryer to keep at work for those days when I have to leave the house before my hair is completely dry. Torn between this and a dual voltage/international dryer, I went with the Revlon based on my positive experiences with their products in the past. Great decision! When I opened the box, I got quite the pleasant surprise--this dryer...

What kind of crap is Revlon making???

1.0 out of 5 stars Might Be Shocking, September 30, 2009

This review is from: Revlon RVDR5005 Ion Select 1875 Watt Travel Dryer (Health and Beauty)
I have used a travel hair dryer for years. The Ionic Dryer by Sharper Image worked well for a long time. I recently replaced it with this Revlon model. I noticed that if I hit the cord while drying my hair, the dryer cut out. I believe there maybe a defect in the cording. I thought it might be the socket so I unplugged the dryer and went to replug. I mistakenly touched the plug only to really burn my fingers.
This dry is not worth repairing.I think I's rather buy a new dryer than a new house. Another negative is the buttons are difficult to slide from one setting to another. Thus making simple drying a two handed operation.

I was looking for a compact travel dryer to keep at work for those days when I have to leave the house before my hair is completely dry. Torn between this and a dual voltage/international dryer, I went with the Revlon based on my positive experiences with their products in the past. Great decision! When I opened the box, I got quite the pleasant surprise--this dryer has a dual voltage switch (it can operate on US-standard 110V or 220V systems, which you find in most of Europe and throughout the world). I hadn't seen anything about this feature on the product page, so I wanted to get the word out for anyone considering this dryer. It's powerful for a compact/travel dryer with 1875W and it dries my heavy hair impressively quickly. This dryer has suited my needs perfectly; I highly recommend it!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great product!, January 6, 2009

I highly recommend it! It has performed just as expected and the dual voltage feature has been very convenient on trips abroad. Not heavy. Definitely perfect for people that travel with some frequency and need to rely on a good hairdryer.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Hair Dryer with some Minor Flaws, December 2, 2008
This review is from: Revlon RVDR5005 Ion Select 1875 Watt Travel Dryer (Health and Beauty)
This is a good little basic hair dryer. I don't do anything fancy with my hair and it suits my purposes great. I have short, curly hair that I straighten and this blow dryer does a nice job of straightening when I have the attachment on. Also, if I decide to leave my hair curly I can take the attachment off and do the whole "scrunch" thing and my hair looks great. It is definitely worth what I paid for it. I have a small bathroom and I really like its compact size and that it folds up. The hot dries really fast and I like the cold blast feature.

That said, the high/low/on/off switch drives me insane. If my hands are a little bit wet (which given that I'm drying wet hair they often are) I have a hard time getting a grip on the switch with my thumb and getting it turned off and on. Also, it seems like the nozzle doesn't attach 100% (maybe about 95%) so it just falls off sometimes while I'm drying my hair. By this time the nozzle is really hot so I have to wait for it to cool before I can put it back on to finish drying my hair.

But for what I paid for it, it is definitely worth it.

This dryer is terrific. I can blow dry my hair in half the time that it took me with my old dryer. The attachment directs the heat. Wonderful.

3.0 out of 5 stars Powerful, August 29, 2009
This review is from: Revlon RVDR5005 Ion Select 1875 Watt Travel Dryer (Health and Beauty)
This blow dryer is nice looking and produces a lot of power. The only thing I would change is the high/low/off switch. It's somewhat hard to move the switch between settings.

The day I started using this hairdryer, I got compliments on how good my hair looked - no joke! People asked me if I'd gotten a haircut and I had to tell them no, just a new hairdryer. It's a powerful machine for how small and compact it is. It folds up nicely to fit easily in a gym bag, suitcase or small bathroom drawer. The cord doesn't retract, which is good in my opinion - my last hairdryer almost started a fire when the retracting cord frayed and sparked. I'll update if anything goes wrong with this dryer, but I've been using for about 2 months now with no problems. Highly recommend it for the price, value and functionality!

I bought this one because it was the perfect size for my limited space and should I ever travel again, it can come with me with duel voltage. Also, I wanted the cool shot button and the ions as well. I have to say the high switch is real high and the low real low, not much in the middle with this. This doesn't bother me so much in a hair dryer. I haven't noticed a difference in the ions except my hair seems to dry faster. I recently colored and I don't use it every day either, so in time I'll know if it makes my hair any healthier or not. I like the style and color of this dryer also, all the other ones seem so tacky.
