"Found" Art,
By Bruce Kendall "BEK" (Southern Pines, NC) - See all my reviews (VINE VOICE) (COMMUNITY FORUM 04) (REAL NAME)
This review is from: Revolt (Audio CD)
I came upon this purely by chance. I thought of a guy's name. "John Smith." . Straight out of the air. One thought led to another, which led me to this album on Rhapsody. I listened. I liked. Sweet synchronicity? Or new path towards the white, back buckled jacket and a nice, padded room? You be the judge!
I just like the wall of sound, the biting lyrics and the heavy dissonant effect of these full frontal assault tunes. Makes U2 sound platitudinous, in contrast. Fresh, lively, vivid stuff here. "Calling to the Outside" is probably the signature song. Relentless rock. a la The Cure. In fact, if I were to compare this band it would be half Cure/ half Sonic Youth. If you can fathom up that amalgam, you can probably talk yourself into at least listening to the Amazon samples of this group. I'd suggest listening to and purchasing the whole CD though. The more I listen, the more I'm convinced these guys might actually be rock stars! Edited to mention that this is the best new rock band I've listened to in the past ten years. These dudes SLUG! Please, anyone who reads or mildly peruses my reviews, do check this band out!! Beatles calibre? Pretty damned close! BK BK

Different from pure, but still as good,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Revolt (Audio CD)
Great album. If your expecting the same punk-rock as the amazing Pure, then your expectations are wrong. Instead you get strong guitar ryths, along with great vocals. If your aq metal-rock fan, this is for you. Opening with the classic, Paralyse, a song of pure metal brilliance, the album goes on from there. The only weak point, in my opinion, is the single ' beutiful day', which just does not seem like 3 Colours Red. Apart from that, Paranoid People and Be Myself are the finest songs 3 Colours Red have Done. Enjoy!

Not as good as Pure but still good,
This review is from: Revolt (Audio CD)
More inspired by heavy metal than the punk riot of their debut Pure, this album's core sound is exemplified by the awesome Paralyse, chugging guitar riffs punding with a rollicking vocal there too. Calling To the Outside and Age Of Madness may be the sprightliest things here, the former featuring a fantastic momentary pause before the chorus, where you can feel the life being sucked in and prepared for unleashal. Not all the tracks are of the same calibre. Other than Beautiful Day, and Pirouette's melodic pop-rock to an extent, the slow songs fail to reach the same standards, and things like Song On the radio and Be Myself are basically inferior replications fo the likes of AC/DC and Iron Maiden.
