An outstanding read,

This review is from: The revolt of Aphrodite (Paperback)
This duet of novels (Tunc & Nunquam) is among Durrell's great achievements. The sense of time is Proustian, and imagery is as lush as the Alexandria Quartet. The main theme of the novels is a Spenglerian look at the 20th century, and modern corporations/consumerism in particular. This book is a must for any Durrell enthusiast, and involves social analysis as much as it does artistic introspection. Feel free to email me discussing the book.
