Excellent replica of the VF-1J battloid, featured in the opening sequence of Robotech, August 12, 2008

This review is from: Revoltech #34 Macross Valkyrie VF-1J Figure Robotech (Toy) (Toy)
What caught my eye about this figure is that it's colored the same way as the battloid shown in the opening sequence of Robotech. But what I didn't know was the scale. In fact, on the box, it says, "Non-scale Action Figure from 'THE SUPER DIMENSION FORTRESS MACROSS'". This figure measures about 4.5 inches tall. The paint job is excellent, and you have four different hand poses: fist, holding the gun pod, a salute, and a "spread". The parts are made of a soft plastic. It's called Revoltech because it has revolving joints.
You have to use the display stand in order for the figure to be upright. For standing poses, you put each foot into a peg on the display stand.
Just looking at this figure is inspiring, and makes me feel nostalgic for those days in the 1980's when Robotech was my after-school TV treat!

Revoltech's VF-1J Super Valkyrie/Veritech is quite detailed for it's 4.5-5 inch height, looking very much like the Valkyrie/Veritech from Macross/Robotech. It's numerous articulation points allow for a wide variety of positioning. As noted in another review, there are also several hand positions available; even a hand for holding the gun in the left hand (for the neglected lefties out there). The hands are easily swapped out by gently tugging the current hands out of the forearm and inserting new hands in. The armor can also be easily attached and removed in the same fashion. The VF-1J can be displayed standing in it's display stand or made "airborne" via a holding peg that can be inserted in the back. While this product is listed as a toy, it's not for small children or for rough playing, and is recommended by the maker for ages 15yrs+. If you're interested in this product, I'd recommend it! It really is quite enjoyable!

This review is from: Revoltech #34 Macross Valkyrie VF-1J Figure Robotech (Toy) (Toy)
After researching Macross/Robotech figures for a while, I decided to get this one. I got good news and bad news. Bad news: Although it comes with a lot of cool accessories, the quality of them is not the best. I broke 2 of the wing missile pods trying to get them out on day one. The pegs just stayed stuck in the wing. I can no longer display it with the missile pods but that's not a big issue since it takes away some "posabilty" because of their size. Second, although the paint on the accessories is very cool and textured, it gets scratched off very easily. Good news: The figure itself is very solid. Very detailed for the size. It wont fall apart like transformable version (Revoltech #084). It looks very cool in the stand and you can get pretty much any pose from it. If you're a Macross/Robotech fan on a budget and are looking for a cool display piece that wont hurt your pocket, you gotta get one of these.
