4.0 out of 5 stars Well Crafted, Tightly Written, March 9, 2004
This review is from: The Revolution of American Conservatism: The Federalist Party in the Era of Jeffersonian Democracy (Paperback)
This is a well written investigation into the change that befell the second generation of the Federalist Party in light of their sound defeat at the polls in 1800. Fischer's extensive footnoting simplifies further investigation of this topic. While written several years ago, it continues to be one of the premier books on the Federalist Party. It should be read with James Banner's _To the Hartford Convention: The Federalists and the Origins of Party Politics in Massachusetts, 1789-1815_. When paired together, there is not a better look at the Federalists.
