Let's Go For It!,
This review is from: Revolution!: The Call to Holy War (Paperback)
This is undoubtedly one of the most well-written and challenging books that I have ever read. In the light of both the terrible condition of the world around us and the amazing redemption that Jesus has provided, is there any real alternative to living all-out for God? "Revolution" catalogs men and women, past and present, who have gone all-out and produced fruit that will abide. We are invited to do the same and given a road map that we can follow. Let's go for it! This book is a must-read for all believers - unless, of course, you want to live a mediocre life.

I enjoyed the book. Shared many things to challenge our way of lukewarm living. Dr Brown shares what the true message and spirit of the Gospel is and challenges us to move to the next step. The message of the book speaks highly of holiness.
Just on the side note, please dont misunderstand that Dr. Brown is trying to impart a message of legalism. He speaks against legalism in his other book "Go and sin no more". Understand, when he challenges us to live holy, he does not expect us to live on our strength but by God's grace.

I couldn't put it down.
I think every Christian needs to read this book. Of course I don't agree with everything. I don't think there is a book written by man, that I do. That's where discernment comes in. Overall a great book!!

Revolution: The Call to Holy War,

This review is from: Revolution!: The Call to Holy War (Paperback)
A book that really makes you think about the world we live in from the eyes of a person living for God. Brown makes readers realize the number of things in this world that are taken so lightly (mastered by Satan)that eventually will contribute to our downfall. It gives detailed perspective on what being a Christian is about and moves one to question their comfortable existence. Even if you are not moved to do anything after you read this book, at least it will definitely plant a seed.

The Call,
By A Customer
This review is from: Revolution!: The Call to Holy War (Paperback)
A few Saturdays ago, there was a huge Christian gathering on The Mall in D.C. It was called The Call. I had the privelege of going. At this gathering, they were handing this book out for free, and I thought it was some Christian book that most people would take but then throw it in the closet and never see it again. Well, I decided to read it, and finished it in a few days. This book has the answers to anybody's questions about life. This isn't a book that many people have read, or have even heard about it for that matter, unless they went to The Call. It is a shame that many people will never even read this book, even Christians, because this is a book that, if read, will change the life of many teens today, and let them see the truth. I know this, because it did for me. It changed my life, and I am ready live a life for God, even if it means death. I encourage you to read this.

Read At Your Own Risk!,

This review is from: Revolution!: The Call to Holy War (Paperback)
This book has the potential to turn the world as you know it upside down. If you call yourself a Christian and are living a comfortable life without persecution or hardship, perhaps you may want to think twice about reading this book. It is a serious call from a passionate author to live normal lives in an abnormal world for the One who gave His life for you.Warning: Coupled with the Word, this manuscript has the potential to not only change your life but to radically change the current state of a backslidden nation and church. It's a call to choose holiness over profanity; it's a call to be one that is willing to go against the tide; it's a call to stand up for the Savior while others are bowing down to the Baal's of this generation! As a result of reading this book, I have become more impassioned than ever to to be a part of the army of revolutionaries that are willing to say, "By life or by death, we will serve the Lord!"

Revolution: Lived Out by the Author,
By David R. Hankins (Odessa, TX) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Revolution!: The Call to Holy War (Paperback)
This is definitely a work inspired by the Holy Spirit. Timely, convicting and by no means a so-called "easy, relaxing read", this book takes the Christian (both real and religious) back to the basics of what made the early Church so successful. What makes this book and its message so impacting for me as a former employee of his, is knowing that Dr. Brown strives to live it daily and is training approximately 2000 students at the Brownsville Revival School of Ministry to do the same. With the moral condition of our nation AND our religious system, there is no other way to turn the tide but by total and complete revolution. As Dr. Brown is fond of saying, "On with it!". I wholeheartedly add my own sentiments to that statement by saying Revolution starts with you, so read the book and get on with it!

Some good points, but....,

Dr. Brown had some excellent points designed for shaking people out of moral stupor. However, some of what he suggested was a little impractical and some of the generalizations he made were a little too sweeping. For example, he bemoaned that there were not more students going to small Bible schools to study to become missionaries. There is much to be said in favor of doing so, but I feel that those of us at secular schools are having just as profound an impact--we are trying to be lights in the darkness. I might not be like Dr. Brown; I might not have any world-shaking impact on the nation as a whole. However, in my own sphere of influence, I am making a difference.
In addition to this, some of his theology strikes a negative chord with me. For example, he mentioned that Jesus really expects us to hate our families. But, the balance of scripture proclaims that anyone who hates his brother cannot claim to love the Lord. Jesus' words were hyperbole, not direct commandments on living. Also, Dr. Brown mentioned that "only the holy get in" as regarding Heaven. Yes, only the holy get in--but--it is not our efforts to make ourselves holy, as he failed to mention, it is God's grace to all of us. Though he claims not to be a legalist, the book came across rather harshly and had quite a legalistic tone on it. America does need to shape up morally, but we as Christians can't force a revival into appearance. That will happen only when God wills it.
