5.0 out of 5 stars Old Masters in 21st Century, June 28, 2005
This review is from: Revolution Days (Audio CD)
Revolution Days is the first album to be released under the banner of "Through the Eyes of Les Halroyd". After parting ways in 1998 following the tour of the excellent 1997 release "River of Dreams", John Lees & Les Halroyd decided to release albums under the BJH logo with the addition of "Through the Eyes of". John Lees invited BJH's ex-keyboardist, Wooly Wolstenholme and released spectacular NEXUS which was followed by the live album REVIVAL. Les Halroyd teamed up with BJH's drummer Mel Pritchard to release the mesmerising calm effort REVOLUTION DAYS. Starting with IT'S MY LIFE (A Rock number with beautiful keyboard-created atmosphere). MISSING YOU is an excellent love ballad with Les Halroyd's vocals shining over it. THAT WAS THEN... THIS IS NOW is a powerful rocker. JANUARY MORNING, TOTALLY COOL, SLEEPY SUNDAY, REVOLUTION DAY & great MARLENE continue. A lovely rendition of the old BJH favourite LIFE IS FOR LIVING is masterfully produced and performed here. Overall the albums focuses on the themes of loneliness, Politics, Love & Technology with beautiful melodies and excellent arrangements. No matter who is leading BJH, we can always expect timeless music from these guys. Be it Les Halroyd or John Lees. Thumbs up!

3.0 out of 5 stars Rather Inconsistent Effort, March 31, 2010

This review is from: Revolution Days (Audio CD)
While there are some great melodies on here, there are some tracks that don't do anything for me in that the vocals are discordant. I'd say about 50% of the CD is worth having, the rest is disposable.

Marlene is by far the standout track and is like the BJH of the past.
