5.0 out of 5 stars Great Game, Old Pad
Overall, the game is great - there are many new songs to DDR, the Dance Master mode is great for people new to the game, etc. However, rather than write a review for the entire game, I'll leave it to you to take a look at various game sites (I've never been too good at writing game reviews without a lot of rambling).

1.0 out of 5 stars Bad pad
We bought this pad as a Christmas gift. It worked for 2 weeks of pretty intense use and now just doesn't work. My cousin's family has the really inexpensive non foam pad and it has worked for years. Either buy the metal arcade type pads or plan on buying the cheaper ones over and over again. My family is very disappointed in the quality of the product.

Overall, the game is great - there are many new songs to DDR, the Dance Master mode is great for people new to the game, etc. However, rather than write a review for the entire game, I'll leave it to you to take a look at various game sites (I've never been too good at writing game reviews without a lot of rambling).

The only real problem with this particular buy though (at least on Amazon) is the pad; the DDR Super Delux Pads are up to v3.5, which is arguably a good deal better than the v2.0. I suggest getting DDR Extreme 2, and buying a newer version of the pad seperate (or buy the game and a newer pad combined in a bundle). As far as non-metal pads go, this particular type is definitely one of the best, but as stated before the model is an outdated one.

However, metal pads can be expensive, and therefore if you're just trying the game out I suggest going with a soft pad (such as in this bundle) rather than dropping a lot of money on one.

Suggestions (for those unsure about buying):
-Ask a DDR player that's played multiple versions of the game what they think is (one of) the best versions; in my opinion this one is great, particularly for a beginner.
-If you want this type of pad, a newer model is recommended.
-Ask a fairly experienced DDR player about dance pads if you're not sure if you'll be wanting a soft pad or a metal one; usually they'll be able to give you some good advice.
-If you're debating between various game versions, try finding a friend or friends with copies of the games to help you pick which one you like best.
-If buying this as a gift, make sure the person isn't highly against the game; I know a few people who dislike the Dance Dance Revolution games just because they're popular/a fad/what have you.

I bought this pad for Christmas and after two weeks of use the pad doesn't work anymore. The sensors are all messed up. Not a good purchase.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ultimate Game Pad, March 19, 2009

So I've been a DDR freak for about 3-4 year now. I've taken a couple extended breaks here and there. Origionally I got the thin plastic mat with the game. Utter garbage in the sense it shifts very badly, it is not forgiving on the overweight jumper, and it wrinkles up. A constant hassle. The hard metal mats are good in durability, they dont shift, but they require you to really use shoes, and tend to cause me cramps, not to mention the 200$+ general cost. These VORTZ mats are a nice mix of the two. I like to play in socks, they are very very easy to jump on, and register light taps or hard stomps very well. I've been using the same pair for about 3 1/2 years now, and they have never shown any signs of wear. They will shift a bit depending on your surface, but the raised buttons help tell your feet where they are at so it doesnt cause too much grief, and they only shift about 1/4 inch per song so its easy to push them back into center after a couple rounds.

So to sum it up, awsome durable cheap pads that will improve your game compared to the thin ones.

Purchased this game and dance pad some time ago for my teenage daughter. She really likes it and plays it all the time. I like it because she is exercising more that just her thumbs! The game and dance pad packaging was acceptable and shipping was pretty fast. Overall I'm happy with this purchase.

We've had the wireless set of 2 which both were faulty and returned for new set; we've also had the wireless set be less that useful -- always messing with the settings, positioning, etc. to get them to work.

So we ordered this wired set which is more expensive, seemed to have good reviews and 50% of what we ordered (1 of 2) was bad out of the box, and on Christmas -- what a big bummer for the kids for what seems poor production controls on quality. Having 75% failure rate on their products is pretty bad.

Of course this is on the pads -- made in China -- so I wonder. I've also had serious problems with Sony products and customer services in general -- maybe it's just the PS2 genre and Sony spectre.
