This review is from: Revolution in Iran: The Roots of Turmoil (Hardcover)
This book examines the causes of Iran's 1978-1979 revolution. Many scholarly works have appeared in recent years which and different ways examine the economic, social, and historical conditions that led to the Iranian revolution. My aim here has been to introduce two new perspectives into the study of the Revolution: first, I have tried to gather and analyze, in as much detail as possible, all of the factual data relevant to the Revolution, especially those pertaining to the structure of the Pahlavi state, the organizations and the activities of groups opposing the regime, and the social and economic changes that occurred in Iran prior to the Revolution. Second, I interpretation of the causes of the Revolution differs from those of the existing literature.
