Margaret Cho For President!!!,
By Kevinduran (Indianapolis, Indiana USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Revolution (Audio CD)
This live cd documents Margaret's recent "Revolution" tour and is probably one of the absolute funniest and best comedy albums to be released in recent memory. Someone needs to get Margaret her one TV talk show (preferably on cable!) quickly!! She is so smart, and so funny, and so dead-on accurate in her views about pop culture and world politics. Ms. Cho is just brilliant. She can be super serious one minute, and then in the next breath can have you crying tears of laughter. Not only is she one of the most important voices in comedy, she is just one of the most important ENTERTAINERS working today. She needs to be on every TV show! She needs to be in every movie! She needs to be everywhere!!! Following in the footsteps of Margaret's previous shows, "I'm The One That I Want" and "Notorious C.H.O.", another live concert movie is being produced. This movie is going to have a bonus that the other two didn't have: a second movie that is a behind-the-scenes look at Margaret during her "Revolution" tour (it'll be Margaret's version of Madonna's "Truth Or Dare"). This cd will tide us all over until those movies hit theaters in 2004. Really, the only comment that I have to make about this cd is that unless you have seen the "Revolution" show live, you might get a bit lost in some parts. A lot of Margaret's comedy involves her physically doing things- whether it's a facial expression, or some kind of movement. Obviously, you can't see that when you are listening to a cd. Since I've seen the show, it wasn't a problem for me because I remember what she's doing. Even if you haven't seen the show, you'll still find this cd to be 100% entertaining. You just can't go wrong with Margaret!

Margaret Cho continues to inspire...,

I was walking through my local Circuit City store, looking for presents to buy friends and family for Christmas, when I came across the last copy of this CD. After noticing it very quickly, I moved on through the aisles, but when I turned to leave, I remembered the CD and had to go buy it. I'm not disappointed at all. Margaret Cho Revolution is a hilarious CD, one with the typical Margaret Cho humor, social commentary, and life story all mixed together. Although some parts may be lacking in that you can't see her movements, this CD is definitely a must have in any Margaret Cho collection. Play it in your car, while you jog, or while visiting your grandmother in the old folk's home, this CD will inspire you and calm you. I would definitely recommend this as a wonderful example of Cho's work, and something that truly stands out in the comedy world today.

sadly not her best,

i loved notorious c.h.o. and im the one that i want (ive yet to listen to drunk with power), but revolution, in comparision with cho's former stand up routines, leaves much to be desired. i felt that the cd was rushed and that margaret jumped from topic to topic, suddenly switching gears. i didnt like that. i found it annoying. what i also didnt like was how she kept repeating the whole "p*ssy write letter" thing throughout the cd. it got tedious. also, this cd lacked margaret's hilarious imitations of her mom. all in all this cd fell short of my expectations. it gave me a few laughs but nothing close to the gut splitting action from her former cds.

Her best work yet,

She's blunt, straightforward, and utterly amazing. Not for the faint of heart, however. She puts all of her business on the table for you.

Sadly, she's coasting. Funny-ish.,

I love Margaret Cho, full stop. I go to her shows when she is in LA, I buy her videos, and I root for her in general. I was excited to listen to this CD, but I was hugely disappointed. No gut-busting laughs, the odd funny moment, and a strange profusion of ghetto-talk, like she was Jamie Kennedy or something. Plus, you can't SEE her, so half the CD is pointless. The audience is having a great time, but you definitely aren't. (And I think it's because they are drunk.) Most excruciating is an extended discussion of her going to the bathroom in her pants, thanks to a persimmon diet. Unbelievably tedious, not to mention foul (and I love bathroom humor). I recommend RENTING the eventual DVD. Run from this CD.

I didn't think this one was as inspiring or funny as her last two. I would have liked this album a lot more if I could SEE Margaret perfoming. Since I could not, I missed half the jokes. "Revolution" was missing something, and half the CD seemed to be just the audience laughing. And that's fine, but since I could not see what they were laughing at and take part, it didn't make for an interesting listen.

It was okay,

This simply was an okay performance. Certainly it was not her best. But there were still some great moments in it. I would probably actually give this 3.5 stars, but decided to round down a little.
Margaret Cho is simply one of the funniest comics working today. She continues to do great work. I recommend that you see her show live if you get the chance. It is certainly worth it!

Nostalgia,
By A Customer
This review is from: Revolution (Audio CD)
First of all, I have to say that I love Margaret Cho. However, this CD is certainly not her best. While listening to the CD, I got the impression that she had rushed this material and didn't give it the time and dedication she had done with her other shows. She seems at times out of her funny zone and she comes across as way nervous! I feel she rushed this tour and that comes across in her delivery and material. The material in this show is fine for a novice comedian in a whole-in-the-wall comedy club. She only minutely breaks the surface of some topics and it would be nice if she had expanded on them. In comparison to "I'm the One That I Want", "Revolution" falls way short of the Cho Standard. Revolution is probably not a good title for this album. I would have chosen "Potential Uprising". Overall, I wouldn't recommend this CD for purchase unless you are a die-hard fan like myself and want to simply add it to your collection just for the sake of it.

Terrible,

This Margaret Cho stand-up act falls far behind her other two tours. I would not recommend this C.D to anybody. It's terrible. I never had a gut-busting laugh. Not a single one.
