The album is a great representation of season 1.

Scoring a TV show is usually a challenge for composers because the volume of music is very large and there are time pressures as well.

The use of the Ney flute was very cool, giving it a very distinctive sound.

Christopher Lennertz was a composer I discovered when I was little. I happened to like a video game series called Medal Of Honor, and it just so happens that Lennertz took over the series after Michael Giacchino left it. The score to the game Gun was another big part in my growing love for Lennertz's work. Today he is one of the busiest film, TV and game composers in the industry. His work is also consistently levels above anyone else in terms of emotional resonance and thematic strength. Revolution is no exception as Lennertz has crafted an incredibly immersive narrative for listeners to get lost in.

Revolution is a show with a grand scope about life after the world loses all sources of power and electricity. The story follows a group of revolutionaries who confront an authoritarian regime in a quest to find out what caused the blackout and fight for the future. Lennertz's score is full of wonderful orchestrations, thrilling adventure, mysterious beauty and emotional character moments. The score truly builds a world for the story to exist within. The music is thematically strong and also has many great melodies to keep it continually engaging. Lennertz is able to craft some great action tracks as well. The score has a classic feel to it, which can be attributed to the wonderful orchestration. With lots of strings, brass and percussion it feels like an old fashioned adventure score with a modern energy. What surprised me was how many beautiful quiet moments there were in this score. The music isn't just plot driven, but character driven as well. The album is a great representation of season 1.

Revolution's first season allowed Lennertz to establish some impressive groundwork.

Revolution is a new TV series created by Eric Kripke, which tells the story of humanity after "The Blackout," when everything electrical shut down completely. To help create the incredible atmosphere and pulsating action, Kripke got Christopher Lennertz who previously scored his other TV series, Supernatural, to helm Revolution. It so happens, he was the perfect choice, bringing us a score that sounds like a mix of musical motifs used by Hans Zimmer, Alexandre Desplat, Michael Giacchino and Ramin Djawadi.

With the main theme (written by JJ Abrams), the sound is surprisingly phenomenal, creating (in my mind) one of the most memorable television themes of all time, ranking along-side The X-Files, Game of Thrones and Stargate SG-1. It conveys both a sense of wonder and mystery, all the while sounding beautiful and glorious, like there's hope on the horizon so-to speak. In the second track, "Charlie's Theme," the music becomes more somber. The use of the Ney flute was very cool, giving it a very distinctive sound. In the fourth track, "Life After iPhones," that feeling of mystery and wonder comes back in a broad, sweeping track that resembles something from one of Hans Zimmer's scores, like King Arthur or The Lone Ranger. In the eighth track, "Showdown," the music gets intense and eerie. Taking place during a very wicked and incredible fight scene, Miles Matheson fights nearly a dozen men single-handedly with just a chrome machete.

There is much more to this score, as well as the show itself, but I will leave off here. It is a great score, and a must-own if you like movie scores or love instrumental/classical music.

Favorite Tracks: (1) Revolution Opening Theme, (4) Life After iPhones, (23) Helicopter, and (35) Genesis of Power

This is a great soundtrack, one of the year's best new TV scores. In recent years, television music has become more cinematic - and "Revolution" is a perfect example of this. In fact, I would say that the music is one of the show's best attributes (it adds so much to the key moments of the show).

The composer Chrisopher Lennertz, is very talented. I've heard his scores for video games like Medal of Honor and Mass Effect and enjoyed them. Scoring a TV show is usually a challenge for composers because the volume of music is very large and there are time pressures as well. Mr. Lennertz stepped up and delivered a memorable score.

Love being able to hear the soundtrack and visualize the episodes. Just wish the series was to continue on to Year 3.

The best television music since, "The X-Files," (1993 TV Series) by Mark Snow, thanks to the originality of the music by Christopher Lennertz and orchestration by Andrew Kinney & Michael J. Lloyd.
