Valuable 19th Century Reprint,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Revolution in Pennsylvania: A History of the Railroad Union Strike and the "Great Uprising of 1877" (Paperback)
I find this book difficult to rate. For those like me with a serious interest in these events, this reprint is invaluable for its viewpoint from those times. Like many 19th century accounts of events, there is an almost crushing amount of detail on some aspects, while other events aren't even mentioned. As it was written just after the events, it is assumed that the reader is well aware of the "panic" and years of depression preceeding the strikes. The author shows some obvious biases. It's a fairly dry read. Still, I'm glad that I bought and read it.
