A great cover and a good way to contribute,
By A. Estes (Maine) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Revolution (Audio CD)
"Revolution" is a Beatles song that STP covered and released as a single this past fall. The proceeds that would normally go to the band get contributed to the Twin Towers fund, as does a (small) portion of the record label's proceeds. There really isn't much to review since it is just one song. If you're a Stone Temple Pilots or a Beatles fan (or both) pick up this CD. It's an easy way to contribute and you get a great song too....

Stone Temple Pilots make a dent in rock history,

This is their first commercial single they've released, but for a good cause as all sales will go to the relief fund. STP first played "Revolution" for a tv special originally as a Beatles, John Lennon tribute, but was delayed after Sept. 11th. Shortly after, the concert became "Come Together, A World Trade Center tribute" and STP emerged the bright shining glory of the night. It's not suprising since this veteran underdog Rock band has surfaced in spurts from good times to bad times with breakthrough music and artistry. This single and studio version of the beatles cover, "Revolution", is classic Stone Temple Pilots mixed with the Beatles classic rocker. Bringing modern rock into the classic rock ingredients. Recommend for anyone new or old.

Good and Good for You,

This is a nice little single, especially for the price. A great song by a great band covered by a newer good band. Plus, all the proceeds for to charity. What else could you want?

Great Rendition Of A Classic Song,

Stone Temple Pilots have always prided themselves on their influences and tastes, one of the obvious ones has always been The Beatles. Look at their catalogue and you'll find tunes like "I Got You," "Pretty Penny" and the hit "Sour Girl" and you immediately get a Beatles vibe. Here they cover "Revolution," one of the strongest of all Beatles cuts, with gusto and style. Vocalist Scott Weiland rips and roars here and the entire sound of the track is a wonderful homage to the sound of the original but updates it for the 21st Century. It proves classic songs still rock more now than ever. This is also a band that has proven they can play songs from the greats, consider their renditions of "Dancing Days" for the Led Zeppelin tribute album and "Break On Through" for The Doors homage, both were also great, memorable versions. Here they do "Revolution" with a vibe and energy that is both classic and timeless, maybe someday they will treat us to versions of "Tomorrow Never Knows" or "Happiness Is A Warm Gun."

This is and excellant cover from an excellant band. They definitely did it justice. Scottie is at the top of his game here and Robert, Dean, and Eric are awesome too. Worth buying to anyone who enjoys a GREAT rock song, and a classic to boot.

What more could you want? This is a must have for any STP/Beatles fan!!! This song is the perfect example of a great cover should be; it keeps the integrity of the original but updates it and adds a new twist. One more example of STP coming back w/ something great when you lest expect it.
