Seriously outdated and the authors have moved on!, January 1, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Revolution X: A Survival Guide for Our Generation (Paperback)
Though this book was a sincere effort -- at the time -- to increase the social and political awareness of "Generation Xers", much of the statistical data is now outdated. And for a book that relies so much on such data, that's a big problem. You might have thought that the authors would have put out a new edition -- or would have at least bothered to maintain the website they so frequently promote in the book -- but they have now apparently "sold out" and have taken jobs that don't reflect their original philosophy. For more on this (and for a much better, updated book about the involvement of 18-35 year olds in the social and political process) check out "A New Kind of Party Animal", just published in 1998!

I wanted to get involved, but this book just didn't help much.
I returned it.

good book but now very dated, October 11, 2001
This review is from: Revolution X: A Survival Guide for Our Generation (Paperback)
it's amazing how far we've come in the 9 years since this book was published. 1n the early 90's when this book was published there were many who thought that this country was in trouble. however, after 1993 the economy rebounded for almost 7 years of unpresedented growth and undemployment. nelson talks as if he wants to do away with the military altogether now that the cold war is over. now we know that that is just unrealistic as our country faces a new war against terrorism. but nelson makes an admirable effort at talking about issues that face a generation that know one really cares about. had i read this book when it came out, i probably would have thought that it was a bible for our generation. unfortunately the idea was never updated, and now our generation is once again without a poliical voice.
