5.0 out of 5 stars An amazing album, definently a clasic, July 18, 2003
This review is from: Revolution Transmission (Audio CD)
I appreciate punk now mainly for a couple of reasons and these guys are #1 on that list. This is a perfect cd and not one song on it sucks, its also a cd that children of all ages and adults can rock out to while incorporating a set of good morals at the same time. I have to give them credit because not many bands are willing to take the stand they have taken in some of their songs, that takes guts, no matter what way you look at it. And they did a perfect cover of 'Angels of the Silences' a counting crows song, ausome song, ausome lyrics. this cd is definently worth buying

5.0 out of 5 stars Best of the year so far, October 12, 2001
This review is from: Revolution Transmission (Audio CD)
I'll start this review by saying that I'm not a big time hardcore fan. If I was, then naturally I would love this album. But I'm more into emo and pop rock, so the fact that I think this is the best album of 2001 says something. Where Stretch wins out over all the other heavy bands is their variety and risk-taking. The basic sound is melodic hardcore, but this is so much more diverse than Snapcase or Ensign or whatever other band you can think of. In "Take Back Control" you have female vocals. "The Truth About Iowa" starts with a violin, and then some awesome metallic guitar leads break out. The vocals can go from scathing screams to melodic singing on a dime, and there's plenty of range and inflection. Actually, the big guitar leads and harmonizing reminds me of 80's hair metal at times... but don't think this is Ratt or anything, there are just some interesting comparisons at moments. The lyrics are intelligent and positive, which adds to the quality here. If you think Linkin Park is hardcore or you despise music with screaming, do yourself a favor and get this album, because it is simply a masterpiece.

5.0 out of 5 stars "A Revolution Transmission" is a must have album., August 15, 2001

I have been a Stretch Arm Strong fan for a few years now and have their previous two cds, so I couldn't wait for this release. I must say this is one of the best albums that I have ever bought. It's got a lot of the same type of Stretch hardcore, but with a lot more catchy tunes. You'll find yourself singing along in no time. They combine singing and hardcore vocals a little more than on their last album and they use violins on one song instead of the piano from their last cd. The mix job is better, because the vocals are turned up a little. The lyrics are just awesome. The band maintains the positive influence that they have become known for. Plus, there are some really cool videos contained on the cd, which show recording sessions and shows from the band's European tour. I highly recommend "A Revolution Transmission" by Stretch Arm Strong.
