5.0 out of 5 stars An amazing album, definently a clasic
I appreciate punk now mainly for a couple of reasons and these guys are #1 on that list. This is a perfect cd and not one song on it sucks, its also a cd that children of all ages and adults can rock out to while incorporating a set of good morals at the same time. 1.0 out of 5 stars run of the mill "hardcore"
this album is pretty bad. it has nothing new to offer, it pretends to be groundbreaking or something with the violins. it also tries to come off as being tough, but it is far from it. bad vocals, boring riffs and such. i dont understand why these guys of all bands are getting all this praise, there are so many better bands in the hardcore department. i guess you cant have...

I have to give them credit because not many bands are willing to take the stand they have taken in some of their songs, that takes guts, no matter what way you look at it. And they did a perfect cover of 'Angels of the Silences' a counting crows song, ausome song, ausome lyrics. this cd is definently worth buying

5.0 out of 5 stars Best of the year so far, October 12, 2001
This review is from: Revolution Transmission (Audio CD)
I'll start this review by saying that I'm not a big time hardcore fan. If I was, then naturally I would love this album. But I'm more into emo and pop rock, so the fact that I think this is the best album of 2001 says something. Where Stretch wins out over all the other heavy bands is their variety and risk-taking. The basic sound is melodic hardcore, but this is so much more diverse than Snapcase or Ensign or whatever other band you can think of. In "Take Back Control" you have female vocals. "The Truth About Iowa" starts with a violin, and then some awesome metallic guitar leads break out. The vocals can go from scathing screams to melodic singing on a dime, and there's plenty of range and inflection. Actually, the big guitar leads and harmonizing reminds me of 80's hair metal at times... but don't think this is Ratt or anything, there are just some interesting comparisons at moments. The lyrics are intelligent and positive, which adds to the quality here. If you think Linkin Park is hardcore or you despise music with screaming, do yourself a favor and get this album, because it is simply a masterpiece.

5.0 out of 5 stars "A Revolution Transmission" is a must have album., August 15, 2001

I have been a Stretch Arm Strong fan for a few years now and have their previous two cds, so I couldn't wait for this release. I must say this is one of the best albums that I have ever bought. It's got a lot of the same type of Stretch hardcore, but with a lot more catchy tunes. You'll find yourself singing along in no time. They combine singing and hardcore vocals a little more than on their last album and they use violins on one song instead of the piano from their last cd. The mix job is better, because the vocals are turned up a little. The lyrics are just awesome. The band maintains the positive influence that they have become known for. Plus, there are some really cool videos contained on the cd, which show recording sessions and shows from the band's European tour. I highly recommend "A Revolution Transmission" by Stretch Arm Strong.

it seems to me that stretch get better with every cd. this cd is great. the lyrics, vocals, everything is good about it. i had the privilege to see them last summer and it was rad. they closed with 'for the record' my personal favorite song. definitely pick this cd up. standout tracks: for the record and worst case scenario.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing, October 4, 2001

This cd plain rules. I've got cds from other hardcore groups, but I'll be honest, it's getting harder and harder to listen to Snapcase after listening to this cd. The energy level these guys have is off the wall and I can't stop listening to this cd. Even after I'm finished listening to it I still want more. It's hoenstly one of my 3 favorite cd's ever next to Jimmy Eat World's Clarity and Project 86's Drawing Black Lines. Not only is this cd great, but I saw these guys live and I must say it was the most energetic show I've seen. I bought their Rituals of Life cd after I bought this, and it's just as good. If you don't have either of their cd's, I recommend getting this one first, then Rituals. Whether you like hardcore or not, this cd will be one of your all-time faves.

This album is pure GOLD! Every song is good and I've been rocking this album for over 7 years now. The songs are perfect, production is top notch and the guitar tone is fantastic. It's one of the best in my colection and I have nearly 700 albums. Any fan of Punk or Hardcore will love this.

The recoring is better in some ways but not as good in others compared to "Rituals of Life", but the content is awesome. 13 awesome tracks that are all different and very mature! I can't believe they pulled off topping their last record, if you don't get this you'll be sorry!

4.0 out of 5 stars 3.5 Stars - Some great songs and a few bad decisions, July 15, 2001
This review is from: Revolution Transmission (Audio CD)
Strech Arm Strong's first album was awesome - full of great songs that were really fresh and creative, yet also classic hardcore. The second album has a heavier sound, and some very tight tracks. The problem is that SAS also made a few terrible mistakes. Take the first song for instance, it opens up in a great way, swings thru several changes and is really rocking - then suddenly SAS launches into some of the worst singing ever. The backup singing on this album is truely poor - the guys just can't sing. Also bad are the inclusion of violin and cello, and a song about domestic abuse featuring a screaming woman. I thought Ignite handled the topic alot better. There are a few weak songs on the album. Overall, the good songs on this album are wonderful, and it is worth getting if you like SAS. If you just getting into them, get the first album. The enhanced part of the CD is also nice, with a video of their Europe tour.
