Inspiration + Instruction = Excellent Read,
By Mark Entzminger (Sioux Falls, SD) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Revolutionaries: Men and Women in Every Century Who Advanced Christianity (Paperback)
Throughout history great men and women have walked this earth cutting a trail through the thick brush of religious and secular culture that allows for the pathway of ministry we have today. "Revolutionaries" is a record of may of those individuals.
It's easy to take for granted the life we live today and go on our way ignorant of the work and effort of those who have gone before us. But not any more. "Revolutionaries" compiles and tells the stories of incredible world-changers found throughout history. While some books will inspire and others will instruct, "Revolutionaries" successfully accomplishes both. Readers will find themselves cheering for the revolutionary as their eyes are opened to their story and at the same time wondering, "1,000 years from now will someone be including my name to the end of this book? Will I become a revolutionary that makes a difference? Some of my favorite revolutionaries from this book include: Charles Wesley, Martin Luther, Francis Asbury, and Smith Wigglesworth. This book is a must read for leaders of all ages and experiences. It should be mandatory that we understand the depth of the roots of our heritage in the body of Christ. Thank you Matt for undertaking the research and for telling the lost stories of those in every century who revolutionized their world for Christ!

Very stirring and challenging. Wow!,

I was deeply impressed and challenged by this book. Brown surveys numerous famous and not-so-famous followers of Christ who made a deep impact upon history.
It is fast moving and leaves you wanting more. It fires up your own spiritual hunger. Great read.

Revolutionaries is a must read for anyone who dares to dream that God has more for them than an ordinary life. This book reads much like a modern day Hebrews chapter 11, and inspires it's readers to greater faith and action with great practical helps on how to apply revolutionary characteristics to one's own personal life.
As a youth pastor I have not only found this to be a great inspiration in my own personal life and ministry, but I also plan on making it an integral part of our student leadership training on a regular basis to train up and equip the next generation of REVOLUTIONARIES.

History not boring but with practical application,
By Kevin Senapatiratne (Blaine, MN United States) - See all my reviews

Revolutionaries is a great book for every Christian. Church history is too often thought of as boring. This book takes it off the top shelf and gives entry for every follower of Christ. It is a very readable introduction to people who have had a huge impact on the life of the church. The applications will keep the stories close to you and not in a far off distant time. Revolutionaries will not only give you an appreciation for the past, but inspire you to make a difference today.

Enlightening and Encouraging!,

Being that my wife and I travel the world preaching the Gospel, including several times recently at the Crystal Cathedral, Revolutionaries by Matt Brown was a whirlwind book full of stories precisely where we are at. This book took me on a journey though the history of my Christian faith and encouraged me deeply as well. I recommend that all pastors and preachers read it for themselves, then have their churches and followers do congregational and small group studies with the book over a several week period. The depth of spiritual growth that will come out of a study like this will be transformative.
