5.0 out of 5 stars Cream of the crop, March 9, 2005

This review is from: Revolutionary Blues: 1941-1951 (Audio CD)
This is a survey-like CD, featuring some of the best recordings Bechet made, 1941-51, which means some of the best things he made, period. Sessions for Victor, V-Disc, Blue Note, and Columbia are all included. Highlights are the title track with Mezz Mezzrow, "Sister Kate" with Wild Bill Davison on cornet, "What is this thing called love" with Charlie Shavers, and the indomitable "Blue Horizon." If you are new to Sidney's music, this is an excellent CD to start with. Highly recommended.
