This review is from: Revue: The Best of Paul Reddick (Audio CD)
Like most outside Canada I guess, this artist came to me via the Coke Commericial using "I'm A Criminal". I found out online who the artist was and ordered this compilation CD and was amazed to find he'd been at it for 18 years...and I do follow blues pretty closely. Although most of what I listen to is the classic stuff, Reddick is up there with Charlie Musselwhite and some of the other moderns. His harp work and vocals are superb, his band is outstanding. Original numbers like "Criminal" are great but his covers, like Johnny Cash's "Train of Love" are fresh and exciting. It's always amazed me the Canadian government feels need for a law stipulating that radio stations there have to carry x% "Canadian Content". Most American stations beaming across their border probably carry that amount anyway given Rush, Shania Twain, Neil Young, Nickelback etc....and some of it is real crap anyway. They'd have no problem at all if they'd play Paul Reddick all the time, on either side of the border.
