Rockin' out with The Stereo,
By liz the wiz (Kansas City, Kan, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Rewind And Record (Audio CD)
The bastard child of Rory from The Impossibles and Jamie Wolfard from Animal Chin, The Stereo provides a softer sound (and a definte departure from ska) than either band but with beefed guitars and emo-esque melodic vocals, it's an experience all of it's own. This particular album (the stereo's third) is just Jamie rockin' out, Rory having departed by this time, but that just makes the album all the more killer. It's definetly time to stop listening to the radio and pick up The Stereo.

The Stereo is one of those bands that you hear about way to late. They've relied on a lot of word of mouth on their CDs due to lack of commercial success, but critically they've done an excellent job a writing good songs and by the time this last album came out they've accomplished a wondefufl studio sound.
It's not a first spin disc, you need to keep it spining a couple of times before all the songs begin to hit. "Pay No Attention" and "Tell Your Football Dad No" are some of the catchiest, and there are plenty of hooks to bring you in and set your head back and forth. Buy this and listen to it. Jimmy Eat World fans, Relient K fans, if you like wonderful melodic rock, this band is your dinner.
